Chapter 1

This is my first attempt at a Harry Potter fan fiction, my first time writing in years so it might not be the best. Feel free to correct any spelling mistakes so I can edit them or let me know anything I can improve on. As long as it's said in a nice way, I won't take offence.

Here's the first chapter:)

I stood on my tip toes, trying to search for any of the familiar faces of my best friends. It never ceased to amaze me how busy the platform could get, everyone rushing around trying to get their things on board and say goodbye to their parents. I didn't have anyone to say goodbye to today as my parents had to leave early for work, my mum working for the ministry and my dad being an Auror. I was incredibly proud of them both so I wasn't upset.

To say I was looking forward to returning to Hogwarts was an understatement. Hogwarts is my home away from home, as it is for many other students. Always will be.

I was broken out of my thoughts when I heard a familiar voice calling my name. Well more like shouting really.

"Flo!"

"Flo!!"

"Oh for fuck sake, it shouldn't be this hard for me to break through this pissing crowd when I'm this tall." An out of breath James Potter, also known as my best friend, came to a stop in front of me.
With his tousled dark brown hair, hazel eyes, adorable glasses, impeccable bone structure and yet another growth spurt over the summer, making him even taller than he was before; he was nothing short of beautiful and didn't he know it.

So it was no wonder that many of the girls walking past couldn't take their eyes away from him, until they bumped into a couple of unsuspecting first years that is.

James paid no mind to them though as he pulled me into one of his famous bear hugs, kissing my temple as he did so.

"I missed you, Flo." He mumbled into my hair.
"It's been a week, you old sap. We hung out basically all summer, or do you just love me that much that you can't get enough of my incredibly pleasant self?" I sassed as I pinched his side so that he would break the hug.

I ignored his muttering about me being the bane of his existence as I started heading towards the train, James following close behind.

It didn't take us long to find the compartment with the rest of James' close friends in, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. As I was about to put my luggage in the over head space, James beat me to it and did it easily due to his height instead of watching me struggle.

I thanked him as I sat down next to one of the boys, James taking the seat opposite.

"Hi Remus, how was your summer?"

"Not too bad, thanks. A lot less eventful than yours I hear." He replied as he cast a quick glance towards James.

"Is he still trying to tell people that he won every single one on one Quidditch game that we played?" As Remus nodded his head, James had a sheepish look on his face.

"Well, he didn't, I won at least half of those games. Wiped the field with his ass in some of them actually." I told him with a little smirk.

"Ok, I admit, I lost some of the games, definitely not half though! I was not about to brag to the boys that I got my ass beat by someone who's not even on the Quidditch team, now was I?" James defended himself.

"You thinking of trying out this year Florence?" Sirius asked as James and I were busy glaring at each other, probably trying to interrupt the staring contest that was probably about to start. As it usually did.

"Maybe, I'll think about it. Depends what positions are open as I'm best at playing Seeker or a Chaser."

"You'd be a pretty good seeker because of your size. Even after your little growth spurt over the summer." Sirius said as he gave me a once over.

I knew he definitely wasn't referring to my height as I had only grown an inch or two, maybe not even that.

"Oh, give it a rest would you Black!"

It seems I wasn't the only one to pick up on what Sirius had meant, as he was quick to receive an elbow to the ribs from James.

"Hey, knock it off." Peter tried to stifle his giggles at the two bickering as Sirius now sat massaging his side like a wounded puppy.

Obviously not wanting to be alone in his misery he decided to drag someone else down with him.

"Oi, don't know what you're laughing at Pete. You said that Florence looked fit before she and James came into the compartment." He looked rather pleased with himself until he received another elbow to the ribs, this time the other side and Peter being the one to do it as his cheeks turned a bright shade of pink. Partly due to embarrassment and mostly due to look he was receiving from James.

"I don't know how you remain sane, constantly being around these three, Remus."

"Trust me, I question my sanity every day when I'm with them." The boy sniggered in response.

To which he received three very offended "hey"s.

As I let out a yawn halfway through my laugh, James had appeared next to me, offering his shoulder as a pillow. I suddenly realized how tired I was after my early morning wake up call.

Taking him up on his offer, I figured I could probably squeeze a nap in before we arrived at Hogwarts.

The last thing I heard was a cough, "whipped."

Followed by a slap.

Then I was asleep.

Okay, so there's the first chapter. Like I said, feel free to give me any tips, advice anything. Hope you enjoyed reading. I'll be writing the second chapter soon and it'll hopefully be a little longer than this one:)
