You couldn't find yourself being able to sleep anymore, after a particular mission that set back a few bad memories. Your heart ached at the fact you'd have to lie to Natasha about your sleeping habits, the one really bad thing about it. All night you sat awake, possibly getting around 30 minutes or an hour of sleep every week. But you just laid there with Natasha holding you while she slept. You knew how at the slightest noise or movement she'd wake, so you painfully laid still there all night and attempted to sleep with only no avail.

"Hi baby," the redhead cooed and wrapped her arms around your middle, while you did paperwork. You felt extremely tired but knew right when your back touched the bed, it would be back to being fully awake.

"Hey Nat," you mumbled, leaning back into her touch with a small sigh.

Natasha frowned at this, for the first time in a while noticing how dark the bags were under your eyes and how tired you look. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, 'm okay, just doin' stupid paperwork that Fury needs by tomorrow," you grumbled, turning to press a kiss on her cheek before going back at it.

Your girlfriend only nodded, feeling like this wasn't the only thing bothering you. She was determined to find out but decided to leave you for now as to not make you grumpier. "Well, I'll be going to bed."

You wandered into the bedroom at the ripe time of 3 am, seeing Natasha fully awake and sitting on the bed reading a book while she waited for you to come back in. When your presence was acknowledged, she put down the book and sent you a sympathetic smile.

'Shit,' you thought. 'she so knows by now.'

"(Y/n) why haven't you been sleeping lately?"

"I'm so sorry, I hope you know I did plan on saying something but I just didn't know how," you sighed, feeling like a child as you stared at the floor and shuffled your feet while waiting for a response.

"It's okay, how bout we try and get you to sleep tonight? Maybe tomorrow we can talk to Bruce about medication to help you sleep?" she questioned lightly, making sure you knew you had an option here. You nodded your head vigorously, shutting off the lights in the room and crawling into bed next to Natasha.

If there was one thing Natasha was great at, it was making you feel loved even though she used to find it so difficult to tell you. She pulled the blanket over the both of you and wrapped her arms around you and pulled you close. You easily complied with this and nuzzled your face in the crook of her neck when her chin rested atop your head. She pressed a kiss to your forehead and brushed her fingers through your hair, eventually soothing you to sleep after an hour.

Around 6 am you shot up in bed, looking around frantically with sweat dripping down your forehead. Natasha immediately woke up and sat up too from this and your racing heart slightly slowed at the sight of her next to you.

"Hey, its okay, I'm here. It was just a dream," she soothed, and you nodded, trying to calm your erratic breathing.

"It was just a dream," you repeated quietly and Natasha nodded, gently pushing your from your forehead and getting you to lay back down.

It was quiet again for a moment, you just laying in her embrace before she spoke up, "you wanna tell me what it was about?" she asked, out of pure curiosity and worry for you.

"A mission that went wrong not too long ago," you mumbled, and Natasha curled herself tighter around you. She didn't expect you to say anything else, as you normally didn't say much about your nightmares.

The same thing happened earlier, Natasha just trying to soothe you back to sleep. You fell asleep faster, possibly from the exhaustion of staying awake for so long. Natasha stayed awake though, watching you for any signs of distress before eventually going back to sleep too.

You kept to your word and when the both of you woke up the next day, you spoke to Bruce about medication to help you sleep at night.

"Hey Nat?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you," you smiled and leaned into her side. A smile broke out onto her face as soon as you sat that.

"I love you too."
