“Hey! Scarlet!” I heard a voice call out. I stop and turn my heels to see Rosa, my best friend. Rosa was pretty and also really dense. She had medium length black hair that reached just below her shoulders and streaks of blue on her bangs. Her bangs fell just above her eyes. And her eyes why a pinkish color, hence her name. Most of the guys in school think of her as the perfect wife but she is just so dense so she doesn’t notice anything. “Did you finish your homework for Ms. Sera’s class? “She asked me. She knows that I usually don’t do my homework and copy off of hers instead.

“Who do you think you’re talking to?” I asked her. “I love writing stories, of course I did it.”

Rosa stopped suddenly and turned sharply towards me. “YOU ACTUALLY DID YOUR HOMEWORK?” She suddenly yelled in my face. The people around us turned and looked at me and gasped loudly. I rolled my eyes. ‘Really, is it that surprising?’ I asked myself. Then again I was kind of infamous for not doing my homework.

“It’s not that surprising” I muttered under my breath. I felt disappointed in my friend for not trusting me.

The color in my heart turned a dark yellow-green. Disappointment.

Rosa noticed the change in my heart and tried to cheer me up saying how amazing the play that I’m preforming is going to be amazing and how good of a writer I am.  It didn’t work.

As we got closer to school I saw my other best friend Aoi. Aoi was half Japanese and his name means ‘blue’. I saw this as a chance to get away to a chatty Rosa. “Aoi!” I shouted to him as her turned around to see my running towards him. I slowed down as I got closer to him and looked behind me to see a saddened Rosa. I smiled at her and mouthed ‘sorry’ to her and turned back around to talk to Aoi.

Aoi doesn’t really talk much and when he does his tone is always bored. He has short blond hair that reached just above his ears and piercing crystal blue eyes. He also has a few piercings that only his friends know about. He had a lip chain piercing and had three piercings on both of his ears and a belly piercing that I forced him to get so that we matched. I was his first friend and he would be really shy if I hadn’t showed up. People usually thought that we were dating but we think of each other as twins since we like the same things. Aoi wasn’t interested in love and I was in love with fictional characters.

“I heard that you actually did your homework, Scarlet.” He told me like he was asking if it was true or not.

“It’s true. I did it this morning.” I told him cheerfully. “Praise me.” I commanded me as my voice became darker.

He patted my head and gave me one of his rare smiles. “You did good.” He told me in a soft voice.

I was caught off guard when he did that and blushed deeply and turned my head away. “Of course I did. Hopefully” I told him, the last part under my breath. He started laughing which made me blush even deeper than I was. He never laughs.

Soon after I started laughing along with him until we walked into the school.

‘Today’s going to be a good day’ I thought smiling to myself.
