It was the day of the festival and Nishinoya agreed with meeting up with Y/N after insisting on picking her up in her house.

"I'm a little too early!" Nishinoya whined, looking around the growing number of the crowd.

"I was too excited," he admitted to himself, recalling how giddy he was as he put on his yukata earlier at home.

"I'll be there soon," he read on his phone as he took a seat on the benches nearby.

"Take your time!!" he replied instantly as usual.

Nishinoya looked at the bright lights of the lanterns while eagerly waiting for his date.

"What should I tell her when she gets here?" he began thinking about scenarios again, letting his imagination run wild.

"Did I keep you waiting? Will she say that?" he thought, "Then I should say something cool."

"It's fine, I don't mind waiting as long as it's you," he practiced on his head, "It's okay, it's my fault for being too early."

"Ah no, that's too weird," he admitted.

"Yuu-senpai," Nishinoya heard his name get called and he stood up on impulse, "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting," he heard her soft voice get a little louder.

"Y/N-san!" was all he could say ironically even after 'practicing' his lines.

He could't conceal how flustered he was, from his cheeks flushed in a shade of pink, to his awkward smile and gestures.

"Pretty," he mumbled as he admired how well the yukata fit her.

"T-Thank you," she bashfully spoke, her voice getting softer. She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and waited for him to say something.

"Let's go," he enthusiastically told her and swayed his head, looking at the festival stalls

"Y-yes," she nodded, still flustered with that single compliment.

He lead the way and she followed, gazing upon the food stalls and games. She used to go on festivals before, but that was too long ago.

"Oh, do you want to try that?" Nishinoya turned around and asked, but to his surprise again, his date wasn't there.

"Huh? Y/N-san?" he mumbled as panic slowly built up.

He looked around the crowd, trying to spot her from the road they just took. He remembered very clearly how she styled her hair and the design of her yukata, he should be able to spot Y/N easily now.

"Y/N-san?" he spoke, looking for the lost girl.

Suddenly, he felt someone grip on his arm and pull him to the side. Creeped out, he quickly turned around to see who it was.

"Y/N-san!" he exclaimed upon seeing her. His expression changed instantly and his face lit up.

"I bought cre-" she muttered but was interrupted by a sudden embrace.

"Y-Yuu-senpai!" she called his name out of surprise, not sure how to break the hug with two crepes on her hands, or if she should stop him in the first place.

"I thought I lost you!" he spoke, not letting go of the hug.

"I-It's hard to b-breathe!" she stuttered and squealed from his tightening grip.

"Sorry!" he stepped away from her and realized what he did just then.

She pushed back her glasses with the back of her hand. "I just," she spoke again, "bought crepes."

"For me too?" his focus was unexpectedly easy to switch.

"Yes, but I don't know if you liked crepes," she nodded and handed him the food.

"Crepes are my favorite!" he exclaimed. It wasn't, until now, that is.

"Really?" the corners of her lips curved upwards, relieved, "I'm glad."

"What an angelic smile!" Nishinoya thought as he gazed at her.

Y/N took a bite of the crepe she bought for herself and was visibly impressed with the taste.

"Is there a stall you'd like to visit?" she asked him after taking a bite, covering her mouth.

"Very ladylike," Nishinoya thought.

"Goldfish!" he exclaimed, remembering Tanaka's advice. It was even more unbelievable that he tried his friend's suggestion when Tanaka himself has never dated.

"Goldfish?" she tilted her head and took another bite, "Okay," she nodded.

"Let's walk around and see where that stall is," Nishinoya suggested and continued their walk.

The number of people was slowly increasing now that it's later. He walked alongside Y/N, as she kept looking around, distracted by the pretty lights and stalls.

"Is this your first festival here?" he tried to start a conversation.

"No, I've been here as a child before," she answered him, still staring at the lanterns while Nishinoya had his eyes glued on her. It was a beautiful sight, Nishinoya thought.

"M-me too," he told her, "I used to go here with my friends."

"Wait, were you supposed to go with your friends?" she looked at him, alarmed that he missed his time with his friends for her.

This gave Nishinoya little time to avert his stares, not that his small crush was still unnoticeable. The sudden eye contact was enough to fluster the poor boy.

"N-no," he answered, "Don't worry about it."

"Are you sure, Yuu-senpai?"

"She called me Yuu! She called me senpai!" he rejoiced deep inside.

"Yes, I'm sure!" he raised his voice again. Y/N was slowly starting to get used to his loud and energetic behavior.

"Okay," she nodded.

They continued walking and Nishinoya almost forgot what they were even looking for. Goldfish stall, right.

He then noticed that the crowd was slowly growing in number and instead of being afraid of losing Y/N again, this made him come up with the perfect excuse just to hold her hand.
