7:00 am Friday
The hot water and relaxing music are the only really interesting parts of my morning. Water dripping from my hair while I am singing a classic shower song, "...louder than a lion...cause you're gonna hear me roar..."
What a nice way to start off my morning. I try not to think about the discomfort I am going to feel in class today. It's going to be awkward.
...
"Josefine! The stop sign! You have STOP on the stop sign not bolt to the other side of the road." my mom half yells when we get to the stop sign.Okay so my thoughts may have taken over my continuous mind. "Sorry mam, I didn't know why I didn't stop!" I quietly answer a question that hasn't been asked.
"It's not fine but it's much better than last time when you almost killed that squirrel." She smiles at me as I roll my eyes at my stupid mistake.
I think I know what is bothering me today. The fact that Leo asked Alia to ask me to go the party. It's stupid and all but am I intimidating. These thoughts brisk through my mind while we pull up to school. I wave bye to my mother as entier the school, seeing my friends standing in the atrium distracted me from my thoughts as I walked up to them.
"Hey!!! Who's ready to party today!!!" Alia walks to the little crowd we've created
"Ooo me I am exited," Tia answers first, and everyone nods giving as much excitement except me because I feel weird about going to this party.
Class starts in about 5 minutes and I spot Leo. I look straight in his eyes and gain confidence for that little second but turn away as if I am cross eyed and I was actually looking at the wall behind me. It's a trick I've developed over the years of not having enough confidence to look someone in the eye.
"Hey" he mouths form the other side of the room as I smile in return. Okay maybe not as awkward as I am pictured,I think to myself and before I can see it...he has moved to my row of seats.
"Hey Jo, I just wanted to clear something up, I asked Alia to ask you to go to the party because I couldn't find you anywhere on social media!" He gives an explanation that I've been needing to hear this whole time
"Oh..." I awkwardly remark"...haha...I actually dont have Instagram and my Snapchat name isn't my name!"
Why didn't I think of this earlier, my snap name is princessjo04, the perks of making it in grade 6.
"Yeah, but now I can ask you in person, do you want to go the party with me after school?"
"Of course! What time do you want to meet up at?"
"Let's do 7?"as soon as he answers the bell rings and the anthem starts playing.
I mouth to him okay, we exchange smiles and the holding tension in my heart has decreased.
6:50 pm Kristinas house
A loud ding dong sound comes from down stairs. Leo told me that he's picking me up from her house and we are driving there. I am so nervous but excited that I start picking the skin on my fingers .
"Stop it Jo!!! Now go open that door." Alia raises her eyebrows and walks towards the mirror in Kristinas room.
"Okay, okay. I guess I'll see you guys there." I say and walk over to open the front door to my date that is taking me to the party.
Once I open the door Leo is standing in front of me, he's wearing black pants with lots of pockets and a dark blue shirt. "Hey, you ready?" he asks.
"Yep, let's roll,"
"Okay," he says with a slight chuckle as we enter his car "I first wanted to grab something to eat do you want to do that?"
