'Can we talk?'

You looked at the message on your screen that you had just sent to Matthew. You and Matt had been having a rocky relationship, heck it wasn't even one to begin with! You were just merely a secret to everyone.

Suddenly, a phone call came through. Matt. You answered it quickly. "Hello?"

"What did you want to talk about?" Matthew's voice was quivering a bit.

An awkward silence stretched for a minute or so. "Us." You replied.

"Well, what, what about us?" Matthew whispered.

"What's your final answer? To my question the other day."

"Hey Matt, I wanna ask you something."

"Hm, yes?"

"Do you want to become serious, do you want me to become your actual girlfriend?"

"Matt? What's your answer. I need to know now."

"Y/N.. I'm sorry to say this, but, no."

Your eyes widened as you heard him utter his rejection.

"W-Why Matt?"

"I really do like you, heck I even love you, but I'm not a hundred percent certain with my feelings."

"Matt! Love isn't about being certain. You take the damn risk!"

"Y/N, you don't know what I've been through. I've loved before."

"So.. That's it?"

"Well, we can still be the same as we are now, right?"

A sick feeling took over your stomach. "You mean, broken? Because that's how we are, right now, this moment."

"No, I didn't mean it like that-"

"Matt. If you say no now, then what's the whole point of me staying by your side? You're just going to say no, again and again until I can't take it no more."

"Y/N, what, what are you saying?!"

"Matthew. I'm saying that I can't hang around you if it's going to be like this. Thanks. It was, fun, while it lasted."

You took a deep breath, not letting your tears fall. "Goodbye Matt."

You could hear sniffles on the other line. "G-Goodbye."

You ended the call and started crying. That also ended your relationship with the boy that you loved.
