Ina! Ina! Please wake up! Please! Everything is fine. Open your eyes please I am Chris
She wakes up abruptly drenched in sweat and tears rolling down her cheeks.
Chris pulls her in a warm hug gently patting her back to calm her down. She keeps sobbing uncontrollably
She calms down after sometime and looks up at Chris only to find him staring down at her, his eyes unreadable.
What are you thinking Chris?
Hm? Nothing..
Don't lie to me I know you well. Come on! Spill it. I am okay now
Before he could answer a voice interrupts them
Ina? Are you okay honey? I heard your scream.
She is okay mom. Her nighmares are bothering her again Chris sighs.
Gail nods and passes a glass of water to Ina.
Gail please go to bed I am okay now and I am sorry I woke you up Ina says quietly, without looking up.
Oh hush! You are like my daughter Ina I care for you and never say sorry again.
Ina nods.
Honey, do you want me to stay with you for the night? Gail asks
No. I am okay now. Ina smiles,
Gail nods concern evident in her eyes she comes forward and hugs her pressing a kiss on her forehead.
Goodnight honey. If you need me just call. Stay with her Chris till she falls asleep.
Yes mom I will.
After Gail leaves Chris looks down at Ina only to find her fast asleep in his arms he gently places her head on the pillow, tucks her in, and kisses her softly on her forehead. He gets up to leave but changes his mind.
He lays down beside a peacefully sleeping Ina and pulls the covers on him.
He puts his arms around Ina and pulls her close resting his chin on her head slowly drifting off to sleep.
