"Mom can you make me some chocolate pancake for breakfast? "

Yes darling!! Of course

Amanda smiles at her giggling daughter, she places a kiss on her forehead and gets up to leave only to be stopped by a tuck on her sleeve

She turns back.

Mom I love you and dad says the little girl.

We love you too honey. Goodnight. Sleep well princess.

She turns off the lights and closes the door behind her.

Its almost midnight, the little girl wakes up disturbed by the noises coming from downstairs. She gets off her bed and comes out of her room clutching her teddy bear close to her chest.

Eddie can you hear that? Do you think there are robbers in our house? She asks her teddy. Only silence  follows.

She starts running down stairs when she hears her mother's voice  and stops abruptly on the stairs

Nooooo!!! No!! Please don't please. Uncle George please don't... take everything we have but please leave them. Ina shouts, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Ina no! Go to your room and lock yourself. Run honey!! Be safe! Her father pleads

Two gun shots and everything goes silent.

She freezes.

Then she notices a pool of blood her parents laying on the floor and her uncle holding a gun drunk in rage.

He looks at her and falls down on his knees, shaking.

I am sorry Ina I didn't mean to I am so sorry. I was angry. I.... I...  oh God! What have I done.

Ina remembers nothing about what happened after that.

The image of her parents laying on a pool of blood and her uncle holding a gun at them got etched in her memory.

No therapy could erase that image or put an end to her nightmares. Her nights became sleepless and her loss never compensated.
