I didn't realize how long I was staring at the inside of the mansion in aw before I was pushed in further by Mason.

I continued walking through the hallways behind the brown-haired guy and noticed how clean and intricate everything was. My dirty feet with some small smears of blood dirtied the floor as I walked and I felt embarrassed about it. No, no, stop thinking about the damn interior decorating and figure a way out of here.

There were some women and men walking around, most unbothered by my presence as I was guided through the hallways. Some gave me strange looks as if I was the most disgusting thing they had ever seen and when I looked down at my grey over-sized T-shirt and dirty stonewash jeans realising how untidy and dirty I looked compared to everything and everyone in this place I hung my head and let me long black hair cover my face. The majority of people were wearing what looked like a uniform, it was navy blue bottoms and a crisp white shirt.

"Wait here okay?", said the kind man and Mason spoke for the first time in response to him "You shouldn't speak to her Lewis, they're all just numbers now.", he spat the words out and they went inside of the room we stopped in front of. So his name is Lewis, he's too nice it's almost like he feels sorry for me. They left me standing outside the door, it seems they needed to discuss something with someone inside that room. I saw a small window and the hallway I stood in now was deserted.

This is my one chance, I can climb out of there and make a run for it.

I walked slowly and quietly towards the window and looked out of it. Nobody. It's now or never Lucy, I psyched myself up before sliding the window open. I took a deep breath before sticking one of my legs outside of the window and slowly climbing out. I felt like I was on auto-pilot, my body was moving on it's own despite my brain telling me all the things that could go wrong if I did this.

"What the hell!", someone yelled behind me and I made a run for it before they could say anything else. I ran towards the forest we came in from and kept running. Sorry, not sorry suckers!

I managed to bolt through the forest, but heard someone hot on my heels. "Stop running! You'll never make it!", a male voice shouted but I ignored and continued running, dodging the broken branches on the ground and shrieking at the soreness of my cold feet.

I thought I was doing pretty well before I tripped and tumbled down a slight hill, smashing my back into a large tree.

My entire body was in excruciating pain and I couldn't see anything properly as I lied there. I felt someone grab onto my hair and pull me up. "Don't look at me!", the familiar voice yelled. It was Dante again.

I kept my eyes shut as he lifted me off the ground by my hair, I'm sure some strands were yanked out of my scalp. "Please...please just let me go. I don't know what I'm doing here...Please I just want to go home.", I pleaded squeezing my eyes shut.

"You don't fucking listen do you?", he coldly questioned and dragged me with him while I struggled. I felt my head get drenched in water and I tried to scream but more water went inside my mount. After about 7 seconds, my head was pulled out of the water.

"Don't. Ever. Speak. To. Me.", he spat and then my head was submerged in what seemed to be a lake just as I tried to catch my breath.

He yanked me out again after 15 seconds of me screaming under water and threw me to the ground. I was a wet coughing mess, but made sure to keep my eyes closed to not anger this man again. He walked away and left me there shivering, sniffling and crying, until I heard more footsteps come my way. I flinched of the thought of him coming back and continuing his torture.

"Told you that you wouldn't get far. You seem like someone who doesn't listen to anyone huh?", said Lewis wiping my hair out of my face and helping me to my feet.

"My name is Lewis, and I wouldn't say you can trust me, but you should listen to me...erh, what's your name again?", he asked.

I sniffed and wiped my tears away not wanting him to see me looking like more of a wreck, he seems like someone reasonable and maybe I could get some answers from him. "Lucy...My name is Lucy.", I breathed out slowly and it came out as a whisper.

"Lucy, nice. Come on, you're making me late for an appointment.", he picked me up and carried me bridal style again. It felt so uncomfortable but I guess it was safer than anything else. Escaping through the woods is not a good plan at all.

"Where am I?", I finally asked with pleading eyes. "This is the northern shifter palace, Arikaso, you're a long way from home. Even if you did run, there's no way you'd make it home on your own.", he confessed. I had never heard of this place before in my life but I had seen the news with young women being missing and social media rants about it being shifters, but I figured that just can't be possible...

"You're not going to like this but, we take human slaves to do what we need...and what we want.", he added looking down at me in his arms to check if I was listening. "We only take those who no one will miss, so that we know no one will cause a big fuss about them being gone. He picked you out himself.", he continued and I cursed myself for living alone and being such an introvert, I wish I'd just gone on those dates I cancelled so at least someone out there would realize I disappeared. But I'm one of those people who take 3-5 business days to reply to a text and I cannot flirt to save my life, in fact, I avoid as much human interaction as possible.

Wait, did he say someone chose me...?
