In the morning they all woke up. Each of them had a piece of pie beside them. They all ate it, but Unknown drank something of her own after eating it. After that, they came down, Unknown first, then Frisk, then Chara.
"Hello, children", Toriel said.
"Hello", Frisk replied, while Chara waved and Unknown ignored her. Toriel was upset that Unknown ignored her, but she didn't do something about it for fear of deteriorating relations between them further.
"How are you?", Toriel asked.
"Good", Chara and Frisk responded in union. Unknown put her thumbs up but still didn't say anything.
"Why does Unknown not say anything?".
Chara shrugged. "We don't know".
Toriel nodded. "Well, you can read books, do things outside, or watch TV, but you can't go into the basement".
Chara responded with "Okay". Unknown hurriedly nodded and started to read while Frisk simply walked to the TV. Frisk was curious about what was in the basement, but didn't act on her curiousity. This was a mistake, but not one that would come back to bite them. Hopefully it wasn't that type of problem at least.
Toriel went down into the basement. She blocked the door and walked down a long hallway. She wanted to go back, but wouldn't let herself. Not until she did what she came for. She would keep the humans with her. She would get Unknown to talk and learn their true name. She just needed to block the exit.
While Toriel was walking down the hallway, Frisk decided to see what was down in the basement.
"Hey! Chara!".
Chara looked bored and upset at being disturbed. "What?".
"We should go see what's in the basement".
Chara smiled. She didn't know what was in the basement, or didn't remember. "Okay", she nodded. "Let's go then".
Frisk poked Unknown. "Are you coming?".
Unknown shook her head, and took out a notebook and a pencil. "You shouldn't", they wrote.
Frisk laughed. "We're going anyways, and you're coming, whether you want to or not!".
Frisk dragged Unknown off while they struggled. Chara simply came along and enjoyed the show. Unknown wrote "Help me", in her notebook, but Chara ignored her.
They got to the basement door. Frisk pushed it, but it stayed shut. "She must really not want us to come", Frisk muttered. Chara gently moved Frisk aside and pulled the door. Nothing happened. Unknown then stepped up to the plate. She shoved the door aside easily, leaving Frisk in awe but Chara rolling her eyes.
Toriel heard them and ran back to the door. She found them walking along the hallway.
"You shouldn't be here", Toriel said.
"But we are", Chara replied.
"You still shouldn't be", Toriel responded.
Frisk nodded. "We want to know what's down here". Unknown shook her head, and Frisk amended. "Well, me and Chara want to know what's down here. We dragged Unknown with us".
Toriel shook her head. "I will raise you better", she thought to herself. She accidentally thought out loud.
Frisk looked alarmed. "We won't stay here. We will travel through this place and find a way out".
Toriel shook her head. "You won't".
"How do you know?", Chara asked.
"People have tried before. Asgore, the ruler of this place, has taken their souls".
Frisk nodded. "But we can succeed".
"You can't!" Toriel looked upset. Meanwhile, Unknown was trying to drag them back to the exit but wasn't putting in enough effort to actually do it, as they were curious, though thye had always tried to stamp that out.
"I promise you we can".
"Then show me. Prove that you can survive. Fight me and win".

Unknown pulled knifes out of her pockets and handed them to Chara and Frisk, keeping one for themselves.
"What do we do with these?".
Unknown rolled her eyes and shook her head while Chara chuckled and said "It's a knife. You poke, or more accurately stab. In this case, we stab Toriel".
Frisk grabbed Chara's knife and tried to take Unknowns, but Unknown was much too fast for her.
"Let's spare her". Chara nodded and Unknown shrugged. Toriel was right behind them and attacked. They all dodged the fire attacks. Unknown gave them some food they could use to heal if need be. Frisk was confused but didn't care.
They all tried to spare her. Toriel was suprised but continued fighting. They dodged or tried to dodge a few more attacks and kept sparing, unknowingly decreasing Toriel's conviction. They had taken a bit of damage but not too much, so things were looking alright for them. If all else failed they could give up or run.
Soon, Toriel got confused. Her persistence had grown since her last encounter with humans, and since there were three people she had grown even more persistent. However, the children were just as persistent, and kept sparing her.
"Why? Why are you sparing me?".
"We don't want to murder you".
"Neither do I, but here we are".
Toriel attacked with revived resolve, but they all kept sparing her, and Toriel kept losing her newfound resolve. Like she said, she didn't really want to kill the kids. Eventually she started just not hitting them, and they kept sparing her. Unknown was the only one who noticed her resolve breaking, but didn't tell the others, due to the fact they don't talk.
Toriel soon collapsed, surprising Chara and Frisk, as Toriel wasn't wounded. Unknown watched impassively while Frisk and Chara had empassive looks on their faces. Tears rolled down Toriel's face and she smiled sadly.
"Please, don't go. I don't want to be left all alone here".
"Is there any way we can contact you outside of here?", Frisk asked, getting sadder as every second passed.
Toriel nodded and Unknown went up to her. Toriel gave something out of sight to Unknown, and she passed it back to Frisk. It was a phone with Toriel's number already in it. Chara smiled at Unknown, who looked away and blushed.
Unknown pushed the door open and saw a forest laden with snow. They tried to look back at Toriel but she was gone. Unknown grabbed Frisk, who grabbed Chara, and they ran out to the unknown.
