Vinyl was about to lose the one pony she loved and truly cared about. It was really happening, yet she just could not believe it. She had to tell her...but she couldn't. If Octavia didn't understand, Vinyl didn't know if she could take it.

But...she was leaving. Even if she disapproved, she would leave knowing that she was loved, and would be missed greatly. This thought compelled Vinyl to tell Octavia the truth; it had to be revealed...for the good of their friendship, and for the sake of Vinyl's sanity.

Vinyl spoke up once again. "Can I tell you something? Something important...a secret?"

Octavia paused. "I have to pack, and the train will be leaving soon, but...I suppose. Make it quick, though."

Nervousness and fear welled up in Vinyl; she started to cry. At first it was gentle, but then she began to sob violently, head in her hooves.

Octavia came over to Vinyl. "What's wrong, dear? Why are you so upset? Tell me what you were going to say."

Vinyl continued to sob. "I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm afraid. Afraid that nothing will be the same."

Octavia lifted Vinyl's chin. "Just tell me."

Do it! You have to!

Vinyl Scratch looked Octavia in the eyes, tears streaming down her face. She spoke in a shaky voice. "Octavia, I..."

"Yes?"

"...love...you."

Octavia stared. She stared for a long time, and with each passing second Vinyl's sadness rose. Finally, she spoke. "Vinyl--"

Vinyl couldn't take it. She couldn't bear what Octavia would say next...she knew. So in utter despair, she grabbed her love and shoved her face into hers, kissing her hard. Octavia tensed, and tried to break the kiss, but as Vinyl held her harder, she softened. She could feel Octavia blushing; her face was hot. The kiss lasted for a good minute, and when they broke, Vinyl felt like crawling into a hole.

"I'm sorry--"

Octavia put her hoof over Vinyl's mouth. "Say no more." With that, she kissed Vinyl back.

Vinyl inhaled sharply, shocked. What?!? This couldn't be possible.

They separated, and Octavia blushed again when she saw Vinyl's expression. "I...can't believe it. All this time?"

Vinyl wiped her eyes. "Y-yeah."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I was scared you would freak out, and...leave me." Vinyl began to cry again. "I don't want you to leave me."

Octavia pushed Vinyl's damp hair out of her eyes. "Well, the thing is... I've never felt emotions like what I just felt for anypony in my life."

Vinyl looked up. "W-what?"

"I...think I'm in love."
