Long ago, a powerful being was born from the darkness. She was curled tight in a ball, like a gift in wrapping, and no one could tell you where exactly she came from. When she awoke, she could not tell if her eyes were open or closed - for she was born into a void. Loneliness like no other consumed her, as she didn't even have the stars to talk to has she drifted and floated in wide open space. Wide, open darkness. She goes by the name Versa, and she is around 16 billion years old, though I don't think she could tell you her own birthday. She also happens to be the newest Summonest.
As a Summonest, she has the ability to call forth spirits, souls, or beings humans from other dimensions, galaxies, and even time periods. Her power is extraordinary, even the sharp tongued storyteller would quickly admit to it. But who wouldn't want to praise their own creator?
Loneliness is a hard thing for humans, yes it is, but not for Versa. For two billion years, she floated and drifted through the darkness. All alone. Her dreams blended with the time she spent awake until she couldn't tell if she was constantly awake - or constantly asleep. After that two billion years, though, Versa tired of her solitude. "I would like company," She said to herself as her eyes opened to darkness everywhere around her. "Yes, that would be nice"
And so it was company she created. Five beautiful planets that she named after people that must've been important to her in a past life: Boreal, Tonna, Zillus, Pie, and Nyono. I know what you're thinking, it's crazy to give planets names that are similar to human names, but way back then the planets were living things. Giant balls of whatever substance that moved around on small, stubby legs that would later fade away when they died. These were her companions for a little while, but she soon found that planets aren't very good with emotions.
(I think Zillus hurt Versa's feelings and Boreal laughed, or something like that).
Deciding that she wanted a break from the mean little planets, Versa removed their short stubby legs and froze them in the middle of the void before drifting away. As she drifted, she made more tiny planets, but they were all the same too. Either boring or energetic, and terrible at listening to her emotions when she needed someone to listen. "You're all useless!" Versa yelled at the void, wishing something, someone, would scream back. Nothing did. Nothing ever screamed back.
"I want.. I want something like me. SOMEONE like me.." Versa was quiet this time, tears sliding down her cheeks as she found herself alone all over again, surrounding by a darkness that shoved her and shied away at the same time. A darkness that touched her and avoided her at every hour of the "day".
But as Versa moved to hug herself, the tears coming in great gasps, a blinding white light shot across the universe. Coming from her. Usually the flashes were simple, gentle things that could do no harm and were just for show. This light, though, burned every inch of Versa's body before moving on to light the universe up.
The light travelled as far as Versa had drifted, slamming into the long forgotten planets of the past. Life is the name that some give this light. Later on, Versa would find out, some scientists on a very very far away planet called her the Big Bang. As the light poured from every inch, every pore, every crevice of the young girl, life did indeed begin to appear. Stars spluttered awake, formed by old planets deciding to go up in flames instead of sustain life. That's alright though, plenty of planets welcomed the strange things the light brought to them. Twisty things with thousands of legs, flying things with broad wings, short things that hobbled about on the ground, angry little things that kept attacking each other. It was all knew to them.
Versa smiled, but it was a very sleepy smile. "I'm tired again.. I think it is time for me to get some rest.." And so she did, laying her head down and curling her legs in. It was too much excitement for her in a short period of time, and she was absolutely exhausted from that weird, burning light. As she began to fall asleep, the light circled her like a protective orb, and another star joined the universe. Inside the star-orb, sleep came quickly and swift, but Versa needed more than she'd originally thought. The poor child was out for a good few million years. Life on that very very far away planet that called her the Big Bang called her by a different name too - Sirius A. What a strange name, I wonder if there is a Sirius B. Maybe they're sisters!!
Even though Versa slept, her power was not all that asleep. It still stretched out around the universe, fuelling her dreams with the things it saw as it adventured across the void. Once, the power tried to do something on its own, but it realized it could not. And here, Versa was met with her first limitation on her powers.
She could not use them without the help of a powerful person. And her power was morphed by the wants and needs of the powerful person. Since the girl was asleep, and quite far, the power had no control over what it wanted to do. It continued it's adventures anyways, though it never forgot that major bummer, while Versa slept.
a few million years later, way earlier than the current time
Vesta slowly wakes, struggling to fight the sleep still clinging to her bones. It's like those moments in the early morning when all you want to do is go back to bed but you know you have to wake up. She is the most powerful being though, so she reminded herself of that fact and the sleep was finally put at bay. "Well good morning everyone!" Vesta let out a gentle laugh. She tried to sit up, to move, and found that her body had been stuck, like glue.
She tried, again, and again, and again.
Suddenly, her left foot shot out from under her right as she twisted, and a giant fireball arced across the not-so-empty void. "Oh no-" was all Versa could get out before the fireball swung and slammed right into that very very far away planet. Tears pricked her eyes, and she managed to sit up the rest of the way to watch as the impact killed off a population of huge, wild walking things. "I'm so sorry..."
She gave up on moving for a little while then, and instead cried until she felt a little bit better about the death of those poor walking things. "I will call them.. dinosaurs. Yes, dinosaurs. That's perfect. I'm so sorry dinosaurs. I miss you." Versa wiped her eyes and straightened herself.
"Time for my own exploring.."
And Versa was off, taking over her first body, as she would continue to do in order to move from place to place. Until she landed in the wrong body, in the body of a soldier named Auley Carter, on the wrong boat, in the wrong army. Staring into the eyes of the wrong boy.
