It was the middle of autumn. The cold breeze made the last leaves on the trees gently, slowly fall down on the road. The fast cars made them fly away again, landing on the grass where a few kids picked some of them up.

I shoved my hands into my pockets as I hear giggling beside me. I glanced over the blonde boy who was smiling.

„What is it?" He stopped walking and looked at you. I stopped too. He drew closer and placed his pale hand into my (h/c) hair, ruffling it.

„Jeez, was that necessary?" Pulling my hand out of the pocket, it lays on his. I pull it out of my hair and stare at it.

„There was a leaf." The blonde smiled again, showing me a green leaf. I pouted and started slowly walking. He drops the leaf, and runs so he can catch up to me. I softly smile.

"... Thanks, Mika." I mumble quietly, as the boy catches up to me and curiously looks at me.

„Hmm? Did you say something?"

„Yeah. That you've made my hair messy. Hmmph."

„Huh? It was always so messy anyway. And you should cut it. Your bangs are too long."

„Huuuh? You're the one who has long bangs."

„I won't deny it, but yours are obviously longer." Mikaela touches my bangs with his slender fingers. I push them away once again.

„Hey! No more touching my hair for today." I blush a little, the blonde just smiles again. We continue to amble in a comfortable silence.

And it wouldn't be me, if I wouldn't get lost in my thoughts and had Mika to nudge me so I'll 'come back'.

„(Y/NNNNNN)! We are here!" The boy with ocean eyes started nudging you again.

I stop thinking and peer at Mikaela. „... I know. You don't have to remind me." We walked through the halls, then reached the lockers and changed our shoes. Finally, we went to the first class.

Luckily, I sat next to one of the windows this year. I looked out and saw the bright sun, that peacefully radiated light...

Our last class was physical education. I wonder why it exists though. It's not like you'll need to be in a good shape if you'll end up being a doctor, for an example. Unless...

„Aaaah. My legs hurt so much!" We were in the changing room. That pretty much explains what we were doing. Changing.

„Do they? You're probably getting old." Mika glanced over, grinning.

„WHAT?! I'm sixteen, Mika. GET IT RIGHT!" With a small 'sigh', I took my shirt off.

„Attention, please, attention!" A voice spoke through a speaker. I looked at the speaker curiously.

„Evacuate immediately! Meet the others at the front entrance! At any cost, don't p-" Weird noises started ringing in the speaker. Then it suddenly stopped. I widened my eyes a little and quickly pulled my hoodie over my head, not bothering to wear a shirt under it. I grabbed my bag, and looked at Mika.

„Let's go. It's probably urgent." I just nodded quietly.

If I had to be completely honest, I was scared. Someone telling you to evacuate probably doesn't happen often.

„(Y/N)," The boy gently took my hand into his bigger, warm hand. „Let's go."

We hurried to the entrance, but suddenly, an orange haired girl bumped into me.

„O-oh, I'm sorry, I d-"

„What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the entrance?" Mikaela interrupted the girl, staring at her.

The girl widened her eyes and started talking. „I know this will sound really crazy, but... Y-you need to run! Something happened outside..."

With these words being said, everything turned into chaos.

I looked out of the nearest window as more students ran in the halls, screaming.

...

Something we could only dream of happened. And it all happened so quickly.

An apocalypse. Everyone probably said how easy it would be to survive in one.

And yet all I see is them, dying one by one.

Blood. The red liquid was staining everything.

Tears. The cold tears were staining my cheeks. But I wasn't the only one shedding them.

Mikaela held my hand tightly as we ran. Both of us didn't know where, we just ran forward.

And forward.

Forward.

...

Until one of us couldn't run anymore.
