"Katrina!" Bailey shouted, before quickly covering her mouth.
Vhokkoric once more twisted his head to look behind him, then letting out another horrifying laugh, "Is this true? Perhaps I was hasty in ordering my friend to consume you. You have done a great service, leading Katrina right to us, perhaps I could use you further." he then turned to look at Satholu, "Do not kill them yet, look out for a proper place to stop."
"I-I didn't lead her anywhere... How did she find us?" Whispered Alex,
Bailey looked at Katrina's car wide-eyed, "I don't know, I'm just happy they did!"
They still held tightly to each other, quivering in fear, confusion, and wonder. Alex looked to see tears beginning to come out of Bailey, she then couldn't help but to silently cry herself. This was all too much, everything they ever knew, everyone they'd ever known, was now seemingly in danger, wrapped around an unbearable cosmic horror. But part of the tears was that of hope, for now behind them they had their caretaker, determined to not let them be taken.
Suddenly, Alex felt them accelerate- not forward, but up. Frantically looking around, Alex realized the road was now all beneath them, the cars upon it growing distant. The low vibrations felt riding over the course ground disappeared, and the windows of the great, concrete buildings were now suddenly at eye-level. They were flying.
The two monsters looked at each other, a look seeming to contain confusion and worry. They certainly weren't the ones causing them to fly, Alex thought. As they ascended up, the floors of the buildings around them whizzing by, behind them they saw Katrina's car, speeding through the air in hot pursuit. Not once had Alex been this high up, and she desperately clung to her seat, now refusing to look out the window at the ground far below.
They slowed their ascent as they came out of the dense orange smog, sitting like a cloud below them. The roofs of the buildings once so proudly looming over them became visible. Alex and Bailey's car then slowly descended onto one of the roofs, parking gracefully between two large vents. Katrina's car pulled in beside them. As they landed on solid ground- or on the solid roof, Alex and Bailey both heaved a sigh of relief.
"What is happening?" whispered Bailey.
Alex shook her head, "I don't know Bailey- I don't know."
The rooftop they were on was quite large, giving a brilliant view of the surrounding metropolis- glowing red with the last rays of the autumn sun. Around them, the wind tugged left and right, blissfully blowing and humming about the roof.
Quickly the two monsters swung open the car doors and stepped out onto the roof, the cool air filled the car. Vhokkoric then turned his head once more to gaze into the eyes of Alex, "Stay here, and don't make a sound girl, or the last sound you'll hear will be your painful shrieks."
Slamming their doors, the two men walked over to Katrina's car. Alex and Bailey both watched out the window as Katrina stepped out, then as Rowan stepped out as well, meeting the gaze of the two monsters looming before them. "Rowan?" Alex questioned, "What is he doing here?"
Vhokkoric spoke, "So, this is it? This is Katrina? You do not know the lengths we've gone to find you. We've searched every city, castle, and cavern on Kronos for you, only to now find you on Earth!" Said Vhokkoric.
"What do you want from me, and why have you taken my girls, vile beast?" Asked Katrina, unsheathing a longsword.
"Calm now, I am come to deliver you a message," Replied Vhokkoric, presenting to Katrina an old tattered scroll. "Isior sends his regards."
Katrina briefly looked at the scroll, then back up at the monster. "Give me Alex and Bailey, and I will read your message."
Vhokkoric sighed, "Fine then, I see no harm in letting the little girls out- for now. Satholu, release them."
