AVRAINNA'S POV
Ring... Ring... Ring... My phone kept ringing since when I'm in the shower. So, my 30 minutes of the shower just makes 20 minutes. I woke up early today because I decided to roam the city. I'm in Dubai now looking for a job. It took me two months here when I finally got the final interview last week.
"Yes, hello!" I said when I picked up the call from the unknown number.
"Hello, good morning, this is Avrianna Mclisse?" other line asking. She delivered the words professionally.
"Yes, speaking? How may I help you?" I politely asked that question.
"I'm Hannah, the HR manager of Evans Worldwide, I have the right to inform you that our company hired you! You can work tomorrow Ma'am. Congratulations, Ms. Mclisse! '' I froze what the other line says. Yes, I dunno how to react what she said right now.
"Oh yes, thanks! Thanks, Maam! Thank you very much!" and finally nakapag salita rin ako sa kanya. Then she hangs up the call.
Oh My God! OmyGod! Finally, I'm a worker now! Hindi ko na napigilan sarili ko. I shout out, wala na akong pakialam kung may makarining man sa akin ngayon. I finally got the job that I really wanted! I really proud to say to myself now that I am now a Certified Public Accountant! I got you! Thank you, Lord! Thank you so much, Lord!
Instead of putting my clothes to me, I called my brother in the Philippines. I can call my brother this time because he is the one have the Internet among my family. We lived in the mountain like that kaya brother ko lang pwede tawagan ko through Messenger. I am so very excited to spread the news to my family because I dreamt it! We dreaming about it. I got my license 5 months ago and after that I filed any requirements for abroad. Dati paman binalak ko na talaga mag work abroad. At first, gusto ko sanang mag work sa Pilipinas pero nagkataon naman na confident na talaga akong mag abroad kaya nilubos lubos ko ng pagkakataon.
"Hey!" I said when he answered the call finally after of my 3 missed calls.
"Bakit ba? Naglalaro ako! Tawag ng tawag!" halong inis at galit na sabi niya. Aba! Bastos tung batang to ah!
"Hoy, hindi ka pa rin tumitigil sa kakalaro ng Mobile games na 'yan? Dapat nag review ka ngayon eh!" sermon ko sa kanya na alam kong mas maiirita siya ngayon dahil ayaw niyang sinisermonan siya.
My brother Jerald graduated 4-year course Bachelor of Science in Business Administration but our ultimate Tita gives courage to them with my cousin Johnlloyd to proceed with the course that they wanted since kid which is to be a Policeman.
"I'm done with the review! Nagpapahinga lang ako." he reasoned out.
"Duh! Whatever!" putol ko sa walang kwentang topic namin. "By the way, I've got a call today, tomorrow is my first day of work!" I said to him directly without excitement but deep inside am so very excited!
Dubai was my first place dream to be worked and here I am now, passed the interview of one of the Top Companies in Dubai. Kaya, pagbubutihan ko talaga ito dahil pinagpapaguran at pinalangin ko ito sa poong maykapal. I can help my family now, gagawin ko lahat ng plano ko for them.
"Really? Congrats, Ate!" finally my brother congratulates me.
"Call Mama and Papa now, tell them that I will be working tomorrow. Sabihin mo rin na wag na silang mag-alala sa akin. Goodbye, bro!" paalam ko sa kanya. I need to prepare, I need to find what clothes should I wear to my first day that suits me.
EVANS WORLDWIDE COMPANY:
Yes, I'm in my office now, one of the employees here introduces me to everyone and I'm tired of pleasing them but it's worth it! They are good co-employees and I don't have an attitude problem towards them. They good at pleasing naman kaya I'm sure hindi ako mahihirapan na makisalamuha sa kanilang lahat. Yah, I know that being worked abroad is too hard because you need to please different types of people na hindi mo naman kapareho ng nationality. Magkakaiba ang pinanggalingan at kailangan talagang mag double ingat.
"Hi, you are the new Accountant to our department, right?" a blonde, tall, and a very aura girl approach to me and asking me if I'm a new here.
"Um, yes!" I nicely answered to her.
"I am also new here, by the way I'm Cassie Dantes you can call me Cass!" pakilala niya sa akin sabay abot sa kamay niya.
I shaked her hands and said "I'm Avrianna Mclisse, from the Philippines. Call me Ave. "
"Oh my God! Really? Your from in the Philippines? Saan sa Pilipinas?" sagot niya na ikinagulat ko naman bigla. Bigla siyang nagsalita sa linggwahe namin dun.
Masaya ako't nakilala ko naman si Cassie. Mabait kasi siya sa akin eh. Masaya magkaroon ng kaibigan dito lalo na't nasa malayo ako ng pamilya. Nakauwi na ako dito sa apartment ko ngayon. Natapos ang first-day ko na masaya. Walang masyadong nagawa sa opisina kasi baguhan palang naman ako. I ordered food through the app at pina deliver ko na rin. Tinatamad ako ngayong lumabas ng Apartment at iniiwasan ko ring magwaldas ng pera sa ngayon. Marami pa akong dapat pag ipunan at babayaran. Maliit lang naman ang Apartment na inuupahan ko dito sa Dubai pero ang laki ng renta eh. 230 United Arab Emirates Dirhams equavalent to 3,000 Philippine pesos. Maliit lang naman sweldo ko sa ngayon kasi baguhan pa. Kailangan kong magtipid para may ipapadala naman ako dun Pilipinas kada buwan.
I rented an Apartment here in Dubai. A small apartment na sapat sa akin. May banyo at kusina. Iyon lang ang importante ko sa ngayon. Secure naman ang buong area kaya wala na akong ipag-alala pa.
"Anong gagawin mo bukas? Day off natin kasi!" masayang bumungad sa aking harapan si Cassie. Naging close ko na siya sa ngayon, kami lagi ang magkasama kumain at pumasyal. Isang buwan na rin ako sa trabaho ko at nakapag adjust narin.
"Wala, baka magpunta ng banko para padalhan ang Mama ko 'dun sa Pilipinas. Ikaw ba?" kwento ko sa kanya. My first salary was yesterday and I'm done dividing it. To my Apartment, to myself, to my savings accounts and to my family. I received 70,000 php yesterday, yes that was my monthly salary here as an Accountant of this company. Hindi naman ako nagsisisi dahil napakaraming benefits ang makukuha namin as an employee.
"Let's hang out tomorrow? Okay ba sayo? Let's do shopping naman. Sweldo natin kahapon eh!" pakindat na tugon sa akin ng kaibigan ko. Natutuwa ako't naisipan ni Cassie na mag-aya sa akin bukas pero wala akong perang nilaan para sa ganyang stuff kasi.
"Ah, ano kasi eh! Hindi ko pa naisipan na gastusin ko ang sweldo ko para jan, Cas. Kaya sorry talaga." paumanhin ko sa kanya na lubos ko namang ipagpasalamat dahil nakaintindi siya. "Don't worry, we are going to have dinner soon. I will promise!" I confidently said.
