With a scowling glare Sydney stood at the frame of my door, not minding the sudden red puff around my eyes from the few tears I had just shed.

"Jason in here? I heard he had gone to your chambers." Her tone is flat and harsh as she spoke to me with a raised brow.

Eyes rolling I open my door a bit farther to let her glance in and enter. I don't care if she is Jasons old partner, I'm in second in command now and I still don't get the littlest respect from her.

"Does it look like he was in here?" I snap at her rather annoyed that she would bother me at this time. Sydney walks around scanning about everything, under the bed, in my closet, on the other side of my changing tent.

"Okay! So he obviously not here now can you leave, I have an ambush to prepare for tomorrow." I snort at her. She looks up and furrows her brows, slowly walking over to me and getting right in my face. A chuckle comes from her as she grins evilly.

"Oh yes, that pathetic ambush.. Catherine, sweetheart this is bad for a second in command, bring your reputation to an all time low. I wouldn't even take it if I wasn't second in command."

"Well we need to feed the group Sydney." I retort, crossing my arms and took a step forward, making her take a few steps back for personal space.  Something was on her mind,  guess her big mouth couldn't be shut for this one.

"Now hear me and hear me well, Jason is my partner and not yours, he might of given you a high ranking but big whoop cupcake.  Point is if I ever see you with him again I swear to god your gonna regret it. Maybe your mom should wa-"

My eyes go black as I furiously grab her neck and push her back, her mouth opens trying to get gasps of air. Her nails claw my hands but my grip just gets tighter till I have pushed her far enough to pin her on the wall.  I've had enough of her threats towards my mother and I, if she wants to challenge me she'll get a warning on who she's dealing with.

"Dare threatened my family and I swear this will be the last you ever take a breath."

My hand squeezes harder,  I could feel her pulse beat rapidly under my plan.

"Mess with me, fine but my my mom is off limits understand?!" I growl at her, she stares at me in hatred as she gasped for more air. My hand throbs over her throat till I finally let go.  Her body falls as she touches her neck coughing.

"Y-you bitch." Her voice is raspy as it spits out more words. I roll my eyes and hold the door open.

"Get out."

"You'll regret this." Wobbling to her feet, Sydney makes her way to the door glaring dagger into me but I don't care. I watch her lean on the wall dramatically as she walks down the hall.

"Woah whats wrong with Sydney?" My attention turns to Darren who appeared suddenly behind me.

"She challenged me." I snort and walk into my room, leaving the door open for anyone to enter. Darren followed close behind me and leans on the wall, searching for a seat in the large chamber.

"So, I was just speaking to Jason in his chambers, he says he would give our mission to someone else. He needs us to do something bigger." I look off from a few written documents from our old ambush reports and look at the masculine in confusion. Putting the documents down I lean on the oak table looking down at my boots.

Another ambush? He knows how long we've been planning this one so why the change of plan?

"Is that so?" I say nervously keeping my eyes away from looking at my best friend, Darren of course comes around and tries to get me to look at him so he could continue.
