"you have no idea what you're doing, do you? i asked for a fucking black coffee with three sugars. this is a fucking cappuccino." your boss shouted at you when he opened the lid of the coffee you had just got him.

"sorry, sir. i'll go.. i'll go get you that black coffee." you said, taking back the coffee off his desk.

you had got this new job last week and you hated it, but you needed a job to pay your bills and keep your apartment. you were searching for a different one on the side though, this one was the worst gig you'd ever taken. basically, in a nutshell, you worked in an office. but, you didn't work at a desk, you got the employees their coffees and snacks while they worked and they would shout at you for getting the tiniest thing wrong.

"fine. but you get it wrong again, you're fired." he said, sighing and going back to typing on his keyboard. you swallowed and left the room.

you looked at the clock in the hallway. 3:30. another hour and a half and you'd be out of that shithole. you couldn't wait.

you walked down to the lunchroom and poured out the coffee down the sink. you threw the cup in the bin. you grabbed a new one and poured new coffee from the coffee pot into the paper cup. you spooned three sugars in and stirred. you placed the lid on top and secured it before walking back to his office and placing it on his desk, anxiously waiting for him to take a sip and for his approval.

he eventually stopped typing and took a sip and nodded. you nodded back and walked off back to the lunchroom. you poured a coffee for yourself and stood there for a second before your phone bleeped, which meant another employee wanted a coffee. you checked the message:

b.s: i want mocha, pronto. and a donut.

you: right away.

you made the mocha and grabbed a doughnut and walked to the employees office to give it to him. you arrived there about three minutes. you always forgot where his office was, it was like it was moving.

"here you go, sir" you said, placing the coffee and doughnut on his desk.

"ah, thank you." he said, picking up the coffee and taking a sip. "perfect, you make great coffee," he said, eyeing you up and down.

you swallowed. "thank you. i'll leave you be now, sir." you nodded and walked out.

that man in the suit was nice, but a bit creepy. he'd compliment you, but it felt like there was a motive behind it.

you walked down the hallway back to the lunchroom to wait for more orders.

you spent the rest of your day making various coffees for various people and getting yelled at on occasion. you apologized as usual and fixed their orders and such.

5:00. you were free. you grabbed your coat and your bag when your phone buzzed from your pocket.

a.j: come to my office.

you: right away sir.

you swallowed. you walked up the hallway, going in the opposite direction of the people leaving their office chairs for the first time in a few hours.

you got to your bosses office and knocked on the door.

"come on in. have a seat." he said, gesturing to one of the chairs in front of his desk.

you nodded and sat down.

"okay. i'm sure you've heard that we've had to let some people off here at gnb. now before you get all anxious, you're not fired, you're actually useful around here. but, i have to reduce your salary for the time being until we figure out how to get the company back on track." he said, pacing back and forth behind his desk.

you swallowed. it was nice to hear that you were useful, but not so nice to hear that you were earning even less money now.

"that's fine, sir. thank you for informing me." you said.

he sighed. "okay, you're free to go."

you nodded and left the room.

you made your way down the hallway and out of the building. you weren't paying attention, you had things on your mind, and you ended up bumping into someone.

"oh my god, sorry!" you said, looking up to see who you'd walked into.

"it's no problem." it was the man in the suit.

you swallowed and gave him a polite smile before walking off. he smiled back.

you walked out of the building. the cold air hit your face. you smiled as you were finally outside. you made your way down the street. you lived about fifteen minutes away from your job which was very convenient. you lived with your best friend, robin. she worked different jobs, but they were all news jobs. she was a very career focused person.

you knew her from a mutual friend you both had. you met a few years ago and clicked instantly and the rest, as they say, is history.

you kept walking down the street and bumped into a few people on the way because you wanted to get home as soon as possible to take a much needed nap.

you bumped into one guy in particular that caught your interest. you didn't get a good look at him, but you saw his hair and his face.

you bumped into each other and both apologized immediately. you both lingered for a moment and walked off. he looked a bit familiar.

you smile and continued on your way home.

you got to your apartment door and unlocked it and went inside. robin was sitting on the couch.

"hey!" she said, placing the bowl of popcorn she was holding onto the coffee table.

"hey," you said, placing your bag on the ground and taking your jacket off. you sat down on the couch next to her.

"okay, so, i've made a few close friends in the past few weeks and i want you to meet them," robin said, turning around to face you.

"robin... i don't know. i've had a really bad day and i just want to take a nap," you said sighing.

"come on! it'll be fun! i promise if you don't like them, i will never make you see them ever again." she said, giving you puppy dog eyes.

you thought about it for a moment.

"fine. i'll go with you."
