"I'm just gonna go look at the fans again, guys" Lottie smiled at Ellie, and shot a reassuring look at Jamie.

As she walked away, she could feel him burning holes in the back of her head with his piercing stare.
She took one last look at them all, and quickly walked towards the shop window to take another look at the fan that reminded her of her Mother.

It was so beautiful - so delicate looking but strong. Maybe that was why it reminded her of her mother...

She shot another glance at Ellie and saw that she hadn't moved from where she seemed to be arguing with Jamie again, by the way she's just stamped her foot. She giggled in spite of herself.

She reassured herself that between Jamie and Haru, nothing would happen to Ellie in the time it took her to look at a shop window.

Something brushed past her shoulder, and she swung round defensively -

But it was just a little girl, dressed in a Japanese cat costume, waving her paper umbrella around.
She smiled at the little girl, and the mother smiled apologetically at her before tugging the girl towards the park with a promise of icecream.
Lottie smiled and looked up.

Where had everyone gone!

She whipped her head round frantically in search of them -

Someone behind her grumbled something about her being in the way and shoved her in the back, making her stumble into the person in front. She caught herself on the back of their coat and squeaked an apology before squinting desperate through the growing crowd.

Where had they gone?

It was unusual for her not to be able to spot Haru's broad build...
She pushed through the crowd for what felt like hours, and when she still hadn't spotted a glimpse of Ellie's haggard black hair, she began to panic.

Her legs gave way and she slid down the wall she was leaning up against until she was sat uncomfortably on the ground.
Her hands began to tremble and tears started to gather in the corners of her eyes.

How had she let this happen?

She'd got herself separated from her friends, and if anything happened to them, there was nothing she would be able to do...

It's all my fault, she whimpered silently.

No.
She took a deep breath.

Thinking like this wasn't going to get her anywhere.

Be brave.

Right now, the best thing she could do for Ellie and Jamie was to get herself out of this situation as best she could.

She thought of Jamie and how vulnerable he had seemed lately - underneath his overly tough exterior. And she though of her Ellie - blaming herself for things that were out of her control.
Lottie sighed and wiped the years from her cheeks.

She had to be strong for them.
She stood up, determined.

Just then, she heard a familiar shout, and before she realised what was happening, she found her vision obscured by unruly tufts of jet black hair.

Her entire body relaxed into the fierce embrace, and a warm blush rose to her cheeks at the sensation of Ellie's body pressed against her own.
She looked over Ellie's head and was surprised to see Jamie observing them both with what seemed to be a pained expression on his face.

She frowned and opened her mouth, but before she got a chance to say anything, Ellie pulled out her grasp, and looked into her eyes.

Lottie inhaled and found she couldn't look away.

She suddenly had flashbacks of a powdery white room, and white puffs floating around Ellie's head like a Halo..

She licked her lips and it was almost as though she could taste the sweetness on her lips still...
