PUTTING OUT FIRE_1

Weve been arguing over the same issues since then, Lucy.

Sting, who just came from work, helped himself with a glass of brandy but Lucy took the glass from him before he could swig the content. In her corporate dress, as always, she looks like an untouchable jewel.

Whats wrong with wanting to stay on the same house? Weve been together for years, and I am practically almost living everyday here in your house, Sting. I really want to move in with you.

She drank the content without batting an eyelash to her boyfriend, much to his dismay. He prepared another drink for himself, lazily raising it in the air for a toast. He doesnt understand why Lucy is so persistent in moving with him.

Hell, hed pay sum of money for that idea if he was his old playful self. But the case is different. She is different. She is Lucy, the only daughter of the Heartfilias and his father, Jude, would kill him if the news about them living together would really happen.

You should just continue that, staying here in my house for as much as you want. But you are not moving in with me.

Is it about my father? You got no balls, Sting. I guess, you dont really love me. Lucy pursed her lips as she sat on the sofa near the bar where Sting is standing with an incredulous look upon his face.

Not agreeing with you on this matter doesnt mean I dont love you. Do you even remember what I have to go through just so I could have you when you were in college?

Then why wont you agree? I hate it there in our old, big, boring house. Theres nothing to do. If I try to rake in the garden, the helpers will start panicking that I might destroy the plants. If I try to cook my own breakfast, Miss Spetto cant avoid not giving me a hand until shes doing it by herself. I dont really want to go on details, but in the end, I am stuck in one room doing nothing.

Lucy, youre just twenty-four. You should explore. I dont really intend on keeping you in a house out of an immature reason.

This is not immature. Im not proposing marriage. I just like the idea of being free from the mansion. I think I can learn a lot of things that I should have learned back then if I am out of that place.

So any place is acceptable?

Not any place.

Lucy made light strides on her way to Sting. With her disheartened look, Sting cant possibly resist her, but that is the best thing to do. Lucy could be so much more than a kept girlfriend playing wife in his house. She can be all the things she can want, and he wants her to discover more about herself, discover what it is that she really wants. Yet, he understands where she is coming from.

He welcomed her embrace and planted a kiss on her forehead. She embraced him tighter.

Lucy has been sheltered all her life since her mother passed away when she was seven. Although he understands that his father is just being protective of the only family that is left of him, the same protectiveness is whats going to make him lose his only daughter if that keeps going. Lucy is a wild-spirit trapped in a soft shell.

What if I propose you go on a vacation?

Alone? Thats not the solution Ive been praying for.

You could pay a visit to my old home. Mom is there, and so are my cousins. They could provide you of the life that youve wanting ever since.

Out of their tight embrace, she jolted back. The suggestion pulled the excitement out of her. It was evident when she looked up at her boyfriend with a livelier look, gone are the creased eyebrows and sparkly doe eyes.
