"I'm afraid that you have been paralyzed. We don't know if it is just for a while or permanent. We will keep you updated." My parents couldn't handle the news so they left. I looked at Tyler and started crying. Tyler looked at me and wiped away my tears. And smiled with tears in his eyes. His parents said they would give us a few minutes and left.
I called Kat. She picked up and she asked, "When will you guys be arriving?" I started crying and told her everything that happened. She started crying and asked what hospital we were at. I asked my mom.
She said "Hope Memorial hospital." I Told Kat the floor number and the room. She came up and we all chatted for a while. After about a few days Tyler got to go home. I, on the other hand, could not. The doctors wanted me to stay for a month so that I could practice walking again. I was fine with it. Tyler visited whenever he could, it was hard for anyone to visit once school started. I asked the doctor if I could transfer Hospitals so I could be closer to friends and family. At the end of my walking practices, I ended up being transferred to 'Glen Cove Hospital'. After being in the hospital for five months of physical therapy I finally got to go home. When I arrived at my house Tyler made a surprise party for me. Since the accident, everything has been going pretty well. I have been going to the hospital, getting updates about my condition. Tyler opened up to his friends about his Christianity, Landon Recovered from his surgery, and Kat started her new job.
Last month was my last update for my condition. I told my mom I didn't want my wheelchair and that I wanted to walk inside. She gave me a concerning but hopeful look. She helped me get out of the car and put her arm around me for support. When we got in the building Doctor WillTickel looked at me in astonishment. And smiled. I walked to the room and sat down. My mom looked at me and smiled.
"I have some great news, Mileah"
"What is it Dr. WillTickel?"
"You're making great progress, keep up the good work and you should be able to walk by the end of this month." I started crying... I couldn't believe it.
"Are you serious?" I asked
"Why don't you go home and tell everyone about it?" So that's what I did. When I got home I told everyone. All my friends were happy for me.
That next month I got to go to school. Some Kids gave me nasty looks while others gave me happy smiles.
Tyler came up behind me and said "Hey, I need to talk to you"
I said, "okay, what about."
He smiled and looked me in the eyes "I think it's time you know, I lost the bet." I gave him a confused look.
"What do you mean?"
"I fell for you, I knew I was going to lose. Because the moment I saw you I knew you were going to change my life. And you did. Thank you." At that moment I knew this was God's work.
I looked at him in the eyes and said "No, Tyler, I didn't change your life. God did."
He smiled and responded with "Maybe so, but God showed himself through you, and I'm glad he did."
This year has been pretty crazy with its ups and downs. The ups are that I got to meet Tyler, and I recovered from being paralyzed. My downs are that I got paralyzed, and not everyone was happy that I and Tyler worked out. Even if this year may not have been the greatest, I know it'll get better, with the help of God. I'm glad I have so many people that love and care about me. So, to all my friends. Thank you!! Thank you all for being there and trying to understand. And sticking by my side through those difficult times. And helping me read my bible, stay close to Him, and work through it together. I'm so thankful to have you all in my life.
