-Yohan pov-

"Yohan, why aren't you sitting with your partner." I slowly look up at Ms. Sarah who was patiently waiting for me to answer.

"Um...Ms. Sarah can I please change partners?" I had tried to hide from the fact that I was sitting as far away from Patrick as possible. Patrick had his head in his arms, resting on the table across the room. He had been in that position ever since I walked into the room, easily dodging him.

"No one else wants to change so you're stuck as partners with Patrick, cmon." She gestured for me to get up and go take the empty seat next to Patrick. Dammit, I almost thought I could dodge this. Reluctantly, I grab my backpack and make my way to Patrick's oblivious state. Even as I dropped my bag onto the table with a loud thud, the boy still didn't look up. I gave his shoulder a jab when Ms. Sarah started to hand out the assignment packets.

"Wake up." he groaned and turned his head to face me. He hid most of his face with his long sleeved jacket and just glared at me through his lashes.

"I wasn't sleeping, just wanted to see how long I could go without you disturbing me." I snorted and shoved the packet into his face.

"Write our names down, I'll find the answer to the first problem." Patrick didn't even sit up straight, only pulled the packet into his arms and lazily picked up a pencil. His arms hid the packet so much that it looked like he was shielding me from looking at test answers or something. Why so protective, it's just a packet...that we have to work on together. I sighed and flipped through the pages of the textbook before finding the answer to the problem which was asking what type of property this equation was. I had matched the equation with the type of property.

"Here's the answer." My finger was pointed to the answer on the page, but Patrick didn't respond. The room was quiet, save for a few "here" or "it's this", papers were strewn across the table and Patrick still had his head in his arms. It was the last period of the day, thankfully this was the only class I had with him today. The mop of hair that seemed more ruffled than normal jerked up and dark glazed eyes met mine. I furrowed my eyebrows in a moment of concern before I scowled at the boy.

"Did you hear me?"

"What?" Patrick's voice was low and drained.

"If you were paying attention, you'd see that I found the answer." the other nodded, closing his eyes briefly before pulling his eyes to where my finger was pointed to and scribbling it down on the answer paper. I waited patiently for him to finish but I kept on getting distracted by his rapid blinking.

"Bro..you okay?" I didn't want to show concern, but I also wanted to finish this assignment.

"...yeah, just tired." I nodded and kicked back waiting for Patrick to finish writing.

"You can start finding the next answer." I rolled my eyes and snatched up a paper from the messy pile and searched it for the equation. It wasn't until I heard a strangled gasp that I looked up. Patrick's eyes were wide with panic before hiding his face between his hands. His hands slowly rub up his face, sweeping his hair out of his eyes. I silently watched as Patrick's bloodshot eyes and pale lips tipped to the ceiling, like he was gasping for air.

"Patrick.."

"I'm.."

A groan escaped the tired boy and he raised his left arm. As Patrick's cotton black sleeve started to slide to his elbow, Patrick quickly switched arms but not before pulling his jacket sleeve back down. Ms. Sarah glanced up from her laptop before coming over.

"Patrick, is there something wrong?" she looked concerned when she saw the other boy's pale face and slightly shaking fingers.

"May I go to the nurse's office please?" the question came in a soft breath and the boy looked down trying to hide his face. Ms. Sarah quickly gestured with her hand to go and he rushed out. I leaned back to a sitting position, but before I could ask Ms. Sarah, she spoke.
