This time for sure, I woke up. No more meadows or Connor holding my hand. I got up from my bed to peer out the window. The sun was out but it wasn’t hot at all; it felt nice and cool. It was a beautiful day to spend outside. Then I checked the time, it was 8 a.m.

Oh, it’s time to go to the Fords’ house.

That means I have to see Connor.

Usually a girl would be excited to see her crush or love, but I’m different. I’m the type of girl who dreads falling in love because it only brings pain and suffering.

I still got ready though, because I had no choice.

Soon I was at Connor’s place, and lo and behold Jeremy was waiting for me. Jeremy in all of his glory was sitting down next to the oriental door with his hands placed under his chin as a way to support his head for a headrest.

He saw me, and his face turned oh so joyful. He got up and said, “Sahra! I already made me and my brother some food! I made jelly sandwiches!”

I guess he expected me to praise him. So I replied, “Wow Jeremy! Really? That’s pretty darn impressive.”

“Yeah I know, haha!” he exclaimed. He puffed his chest out and placed his hands on his hips. He started rambling on about how he used to do this more often for his brother before.

I really didn’t care honestly but I pretended to be interested. I even threw in an occasional, ‘Wow really?’ for more effect.

However, that made Jeremy even more talkative, causing him to talk about all his other great triumphs things he can do without mommy helping him. He was talking for about five minutes now. Be patient.

Ten minutes have passed and I think it’s time for him to stop. Something to distract him…

“Oh my god! Jeremy guess what? I totally forgot!”

“What is it?”

“Didn’t you say your friend Adrian was going to pick you up today for his sleepover party? We have to get you prepared! Honestly, how did we forget?”

“Oh right! I totally forgot that it was today! Thanks for reminding me Sahra!” said Jeremy. He began to head inside, and ushered me in. We both got inside the house to help Jeremy pack up for his sleepover.

Jeremy was really excited for his sleepover, stating that they were only going to do manly stuff and stay up late. When he was telling me, I made sure to check up on all the stuff he had.

I got up from the floor, to have a better view of the unsealed bag. Okay, Jeremy has his toothbrush, a set of clothes, and a pair of socks.

When I was almost finishing examining the bag, the doorbell rang. Jeremy realized it was Adrian because Adrian’s red car was parked in our driveway. And out of the corner of my left eye, I see a little chubby boy with rimmed glasses and curly hair. He stretched his right hand far out, and waved it side by side in order to get Jeremy’s attention.

Jeremy rushed in to grab his bag and head out. I realized he didn’t take his plush duck. I picked up his push duck off the foot of the bed, it was a bit worn out and the cotton smushed all in its head, making it appear it had a fat head and skinny body.

Before Jeremy headed out I called out to him, “Hey Jeremy! You forgot your duck!” I headed closer to him, to hand him his duck.

Jeremy shook his head, saying, “My friends will make fun of me Sahra. It’s just not normal for boys to have those girly things.”

This time for sure he headed out the door, and soon a few seconds later I see out the window that he joined his friend. They both got in the car while a parent drove; soon the car was out of my view.
