It was a dark and stormy night within the city limits. I was just walking around the city trying to find an old friend of mine. He went missing a few days prior, last seen around the local pub. I already knew that the law wouldn't be any help so I decided to take action. I started near the pub that he used to hang around. I didn't look like I was from here so everyone was just staring at me. I knew someone would try to start something.
"Who are you?" A strange and rough voice said from behind me.
"That isn't for you to know." I said. I smirked and turned around slowly.
"Oh it isn't? Well maybe we will just leave your grave unmarked." He said.
I touched my amulet around my neck and raised my hand. "You really believe that?" I said. His eyes lit up and he was staring at my amulet.
"You are a magic person?" He said, scared out of his mind.
"I prefer gifted." I said.
"I want to apologize my friend." He said showing his terrible teeth.
"Oh, so you are scared now?" I said. My amulet started to glow and he started to run away. "Where are you going?" I said. My hand shot out a small green amber that started to follow him closely. It was faster than he ever would be. Once it got close enough it turned into a hand and grabbed him and stopped him in place.
"What the..." He said. He went quiet and tried to fight to get out.
"Do you want to do this the easy way or the hard way?" I asked as I appeared in front of him.
"Go screw yourself." He said.
"Fine. Be that way." I said placing my hand upon his head. I gained every bit of knowledge he ever had. I knew him better than he knew himself. He screamed and then passed out from the pain it caused him. I let him go and he fell to the ground with a thud.
"You are lucky, John." I said as I walked back to the pub.
Once I got back to the pub, there were two officers there looking for someone named John.
One of them stopped me, "You are not from here are you?" He said.
"I just got here not even ten minutes ago." I said.
"Where are you from?" He said.
"The Westlands." I said.
"What brought you here?" He said.
"Business." I said. I started to get a little annoyed that he was trying to figure me out. I was about to just disappear.
"Okay, carry on then." He said.
I was just glad that I didn't have to use my gift out in the open. I started to walk into the pub and I felt more people staring at me. I walked towards a dark corner of the pub and took a seat. I looked up and everyone was just looking at me.
"What are you staring at?" I said loudly.
"They have never seen anyone with a glow like you have." A soft voice said.
"Oh is that so?" I said slowly, pulling my energy from my amulet.
Everyone then turned back to what they were doing before I entered. The soft spoken person took a seat at my table with me. It was a younger woman to sit down. Her skin was pale and her eyes were dark. She seemed to be a thief at that but not a very good one.
"Nobody asked you to sit here." I said.
"Well it's either me or that man over there that wants to know why you're here." She said pointing towards a group of people. They just stared at me.
