Meanwhile, as Prisha was sleeping soundly, Amy lay awake, her laptop sitting wonkily on her lap, illuminating the space around her, and making the darkness seem more intimidating. Amy didn't care about the impenetrable darkness though, she was focused, her eyes never leaving the screen of her laptop. She silently lay, slouched in her bed, the pillows providing needed comfort for her otherwise painfully uncomfortable neck. On the screen was a job site. The job site. The job site her and Prisha were on earlier. The one with the assistant job. She had been thinking about it since she got home from Prisha's house, it was a job. Amy needed a job, she had to start saving for university. Prisha would understand, wouldn't she. And what if the job wasn't available anymore, or even if it was, she might not get it. All these thoughts were running through her head as she clicked on the email address and type out an email, not too different form the one Prisha had written just mere hours before, of course neither one of them knew about what the other was doing. Amy stole a glance at the clock. Nearly 2am. She sent the email, sleepily closed her laptop, and tried not to think about Prisha. What had she just done? If Prisha found out she would be so hurt. Too late, she was thinking about Prisha. She admitted to herself that she probably wouldn't get much sleep that night and instead resorted to reading Jane Austin. She finished Pride and Prejudice around 4:30am and opened her laptop to browse through the Vans website, when she noticed a notification in her inbox. It didn't even cross her mind that it could be a reply regarding the job, and she open her emails. After all, she had nothing better to do, it wasn't even 5am. Seeing the email, she opened it. It read:

Dear Amy,

We thank you for your email. We offered the job to someone earlier, they start on Monday. However, we would also like you to come along. You will be compared to the other candidate and the better person for the job will receive it. We look for to seeing you on Monday,

Kind regards,
Dave

Thoughts swirled through her head as she read it, and Amy had to read it again to check what it actually said. Wow, she thought to herself, a competition for a summer job. This would be interesting, more than she could ever imagine. Morning came and Amy realised that she had nothing to wear on her feet to work on Monday. She took out her phone, about to call Prisha, then put it back in her pocket, realising that Prisha would ask why she needed a pair of comfy and work-appropriate shoes. She went to about five different shops, none of them had what she needed. It was hard for Amy to find shoes, as she had size 9 feet. She wished Prisha was here, and headed home. She would just have to wear some actually stylish trainers to work. When she arrived home, she saw another email notification on her laptop. It was another email from Dave. It said:

Dear Amy,

Apologies, however in my previous email I forgot to mention who's assistant this job offer is for. The person you will be working for is Harry Styles. See you Monday.

Kind regards,
Dave

Harry Styles...who was that again? Oh yes, Amy thought to herself, that's the singer that Prisha is absolutely obsessed with. Amy wasn't really a fan of Harry Styles, unlike her best friend. The thought of Prisha made Amy feel sad, Prisha would be freaking out if she knew, but she couldn't know.

Little did Amy know that Prisha would be fully aware of what she had done soon enough.

Sunday came and Amy decided to call Prisha.
"Hey, did you wanna hang out today?"
"Sure"
"Great, meet at Subway in five?"
"Yeah, I really fancy a subway, I'll see you in a minute, literally putting on my shoes now."

Amy heard the beep, signifying that the call had ended. She was stood in front of her mirror, looking into her own eyes.
Just act normal. Your'e hanging out with your best friend, act like nothing happened, forget about the job for the afternoon.

She slipped on her trainers and headed out the front door. Amy and Prisha lived close to one another, and Subway was the midpoint between their houses. This was their excuse for going there at least four times a week, and the fact that it was the only place for food within a mile. As they ate, Amy tried desperately to act like nothing was wrong, like it was summer and they were gonna have a blast. She feared that Prisha knew something was up and that she would ask questions, but she didn't.

Little did Amy know that Prisha was thinking the same things...
