Egress went straight to her daughter's room right after she came back home.
Eversince her talk with Cyril, she decided to reopen a university. but before she does that, she have to convince the council na magtayo nito, means of getting in the university, at iba pang kailangang asikasuhin para maaprubahan ang kahilingang magtayo ng university na magtetrain sa mga element holders.
"I'm sorry, baby. Mommy's doing this for you and for all the element holders out there. there's a big chance that you guys will be discriminated if we don't train you to control your powers. theres a big chance of using this for evil kaya hindi ko pwedeng hayaan iyon. i will protect you. i will protect every single element holder out there. and i believe that you will help me." Egress stroke her daughter's hair and smiled warmly as if her daughter sees her. and with that, she went out of her daughter's room and went to her own room.
Cassey's eyes slowly opened after she heard the door shut. she felt a bit conscience.
KINABUKASAN, maagang gumising si Cassey. she checked if her mom is still in her room, and she is. dumiretso siya sa kusina para magprepare ng breakfast para sa kanilang dalawa.
naghain siya ng pancakes at habang nagtitimpla ng kape para sa kanilang mag ina ay nakarinig siya ng mga hakbang. She's awake
"aba, mukhang maaga kang nagising ah" bati ng ina niyang si Egress na naupo sa may kitchen counter kung saan nakahain ang pancakes na niluto ni Cassey.
"I made you your breakfast, mom. how's your work? did it went well?" Cassey joins her mom at the kitchen counter, bringing her hot choco and a hot coffee for her mom.
"It went well, Sweetie." she replied and sipped from her cup of hot coffee.
"care to share?" Cassey had a slice of the pancake. she was expecting something from her mom kaso she redirected their conversation into something else.
"before that, your tita Cyril told me that you called her. ano daw yung mga papers na ipapasign mo sa akin?"
Cassey sighed and took a deep breath. she stood up and went to the sala and returned with an envelope. she gave it to her mom and her mom opened and read it.
"entrance exam? Delshille University?"
"yes mom. my friends will take the exam too. nakapagpass na sila ng requirements last week pa. i can't pass my requirements kasi po kulang pa. i still need some requirements from the school and they need our guardian's sign." Cassey explained the situation.
her face was hopeful, she is hopeful. after all, her mom's priority is her education.
pero nabasag ang pagasang iyon nang ilapag ng mom niya ang envelope sa lamesa. with a change in her mom's expression, she braced herself for what it is to come.
"anak, Cassey. Hindi ka muna papasok sa school. hindi ka muna papasok sa university" with what her mom said ay sobrang naguluhan ito. her mom's top priority is her education and now her mom is opposing her plans to study at a good university.
"but why, mom? ayaw niyo ba sa Delshille University? but even if i go to a different university i will still need some documents which requires your signature."
"anak" Egress reached out for her daughter's hands "these past few days, i was gone right?" hindi mapigilan ni Cassey ang lungkot sa mukha kaya yumuko n lang ito habang hawak ng nanay niya ang mga kamay niya.
"I was preparing for something" Cassey sniffed a little, preventing to cry in front of her mom. "Inaasikaso ko yung eskwelahan para sayo. para sa inyo"
"eskwelahan? para sa akon? para sa amin?" takang tanong ni Cassey. tumunghay na din ito and her eyes met her mom's eyes.
"remember, anak, when you told me things tht happened after a day, a week, or a month?" tumango naman si Cassey bilang tugon. "anak, that's not a coincidence. that is because you are special. "
"special? what do you mean?" takang tanong ni cassey.
"remember the stories that i told you when you were a kid? remember that you told me na walang ganoong klase ng story book kang nakita before? that's because it all happened in real life. that is based on a true story 'nak"
Egress tried to explain everything as simple as possible. ngunit bakas pa din ang lito sa mukha ni Cassey.
"to make things simpler, anak powers are true. element holders exist. magics happen in real life. and you are one of them, Cassey. You are an element holder anak. and i proposed to the council to let me establish a training center, an academy para matrain ka namin, para matrain namin kayo because for sure hindi ka nagiisa anak."
"wait, mom. council? element holders? this is too much. I can't process everything right now." gulong gulo na sambit ni Cassey sa ina nito
"I understand anak. I understand. but you have to help me, okay?"
