The Dragon's Heart

Prologue

"Catch up Firchell, come on!"

I'm huffing and wheezing as I pump my wings to push me faster than before. I turn my head to look behind me, instantly regretting my decision. I turned back around and pushed myself to go faster, so out of breath already being pushed past my limit.

We're soaring through the winter skies at an impossible pace, cutting through trees, diving under stones, trying to avoid the other dragons tailing behind us.

I dove under a fallen tree, hoping they would get stuck, but my wish wasn't granted seeing as they were still on our tails. I flapped my wings once more before my face was met with grass and dirt.

One of them caught up and knocked me down to the earthy soil below us. I had quite a rough landing before quickly turning myself over to protect myself. I barely got a glimpse of my attacker before I saw pitch black and a final scream from the distance.
