Miscarriage

Andy Herrera, 19 weeks pregnant was over the moon about welcoming her first child with her loving husband Robert Sullivan. She was excited to see him as a father, she knew he was very nurturing to her so imagining him with his own baby would be amazing. In just over a week they were going to find out the gender of their newest addition. Just about a month ago they told their family at the station. Maya was so happy for her favorite couple to be having a baby, Jack was a little jealous that it wasn't with him but he pushed all those feelings aside to be happy for the expecting couple. Vic was surprised seeing as she didn't know they were together. Miller was glad to see Herrera finally happy again after her dad passed away, he hated seeing her so broken. She was family to all of them, so this baby was all of theirs. After all, it is a firehouse baby. Before she spaced out even more she decided to go to the station for a little while to see her friends before running some errands. She was in her car 5 minutes into the drive when she started to feel cramps in her stomach, but she put them off as braxton hicks contractions. When she finally arrived at the station she first walked into the station she went right into the captains office to say hi to maya, they had a conversation before maya got a call over the klaxton for a car accident they needed to respond to. Andy excused herself to go to see her husband in his office, but he wasn't in there. So she figured he was in the beanery, when she walked into the place where they share meals she saw her handsome husband sitting and enjoying a cup of coffee.
He looked up at her and just smiled the smile andy fell in love with when he first started to open up her. She started to walk over to him when she got another set of cramps, she winced in pain trying to conceal the uncomfortable pain she was in. Robert didn't fail to notice it, "are you okay baby?" he said in a loving tone. "Yeah just braxton hicks" she said back. She walked over to her husband and sat down on his lap and planted a kiss on her lips. He returned the kiss back and hugged her. They stayed like that until they were interrupted by the crew coming back from the call. They all sat together at the table having conversations until Andy decided she need to go run a few errands before the end of the day. As she walking back into the house from grocery shopping she felt those same cramps again. "That's not normal" she thought. She started to put the groceries away when she felt like she peed herself, so she went to the bathroom and as soon as she pulled her pants down she saw blood. She started to freak out and so she went back to the kitchen and grabbed her phone to call Robert. "Hurry up please" she whispered trying not to cry. As soon as he answered she started to cry. "What's wrong baby?" Robert said. "Somethings wrong. There... There... There's blood" She said trying to hold back her tears. "Okay baby i'm on my way home now to bring you to the hospital, everything is going to be okay. Just change into sweatpants and I'll be home in 5, I love you" Robert said. Andy went upstairs to change just like Robert said to.
She wanted to just wait to see what the hospital said until she freaked out anymore. Just in case nothing was wrong and she was just putting stress on the baby for no reason. When she came back downstairs Robert was walking through the door ready to take her to check on their baby. "Come on honey, let's go check on our little peanut" Robert said grabbing Andy's hand. Shortly after, they arrived at the hospital and their doctor and dear friend Carina Deluca was waiting to take them up to an ultrasound room. "Okay, just as a little reminder the gel is going to be a bit cold on your tummy" Carina spoke in a soft calming voice. As soon as the wand touched her stomach Carina's face dropped and Andy saw it, something was wrong with her baby. "What's wrong with my baby?" Andy said, starting to get worried. "I'm sorry guys, but you're miscarrying your baby" Carina said with a frown on her face. "No! That can't be happening, this baby is my everything I can't lose it!" She said, starting to panic. "I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do" Carina said, walking out. Andy just stared off into the place Robert dreaded most. He hated when she went to her dark place, he saw it when he told her to go, when she lost ryan, when her dad died in the storage facility fire. He walked over to where she was sitting and just hugged her, "I love you, we will get through this" He whispered in her ear just before kissing her temple. They walked out of the room and down to the car silently. On their drive home Robert grabbed her hand and kissed it. Once they got home Robert got out of the car and walked over to Andy's side of the car and opened her door. She grabbed his hand that he was offering and stood up. He opened the door for her and she just walked in and walked straight up into their bedroom. He went up there just a few minutes after her and saw her sitting on the edge of their bed. "Why don't I go get the water running for a tub. You take your time in there, I'll make dinner for you and bring it up to you when you're done" He said in a soft loving tone. She just nodded not being able to form any words. He walked into the bathroom and started run the water and when he walked back into the room to grab Andy he saw her starting to cry and he just grabbed her and held her until she started to calm down just enough to be able to breathe. "Let's get you into the bath and I'll put towels in the dryer for you" He suggested. "Can you stay with me?" Andy asked super quietly just so Robert could barely hear her. "Of course baby, anything for you." They walked into the bathroom and Robert started to help undress her. He felt terrible that she was in this dark place again. "I'll be right back okay?" Robert spokendor the first time since she got into the bath 30 minutes ago. She was just finished with her bath when Robert walked back into their room "I ordered pizza it's on the counter" He said. "Just come down when you're done." He walked out to go grab blankets, plates, and to turn a movie on in the living room. It had been 30 minutes and Robert was starting to get worried, so he walked back upstairs and on his way to the place they slept, he saw her out of his peripheral view in the rocking chair in the nursery. She was just sitting there with a blank face clutching one of the baby's blankets to her face, with tears rolling down her soft olive skin. He walked into the room, picked her up, sat down and just laid her on his lap with her head to his chest. After sitting there for a few minutes they looked at eachother and Robert just kissed her forehead when tears started to roll down his face. "I love you Robert, thank you for loving me so much, i don't know what I would do without you" Andy whispered just after kissing him.
