MAYDAY!

"MAYDAY!! I can't get out, I'm trapped under a beam!" Robert yelled into his radio. Andy heard the voice of her husband and instantly tried to run into the burning building, but Maya stopped her before she could enter. "We can't let you in to get him, we have people going in now. He's going to be okay" Maya said calmly, trying not to freak Andy out even more than she already was. After what felt like forever Andy saw two firefighters from station 23 carrying Robert's lifeless body out of the building. She somehow got out of Maya's grip and ran over to the gurney he was laying on. "Please be okay baby! I can't live without you, so please stay alive" She sobbed. They loaded him up into the aid car and Ben Warren yelled "bring him to Grey-Sloan, he's one of ours." On the way to the hospital, Ripley told all of 19 to go to the hospital to be with their Captain. "You guys are offline until B-shift comes on later tonight. Go be with your Captain." As they made it to the hospital, they were all worried about Andy and how she was dealing with it. They sat down in the family waiting area and just prayed that Sullivan would be okay. "Charge to 200!" Bailey yelled out, sort of relieved that this wasn't her husband on the table. "Charge to 250!" She yelled again. "Okay good, let's move him to the or STAT!" glad she got someone she considered a friend back. Many hours of waiting later, Andy saw Meredith and Bailey walking out and she jumped up to talk to them. "How is he? Is he okay?" She questioned before the duo could talk. "He had a severe internal bleeding from splenic and liver lacerations, multiple broken ribs, and a collapsed lung. We were able to stop the bleeding and repair the liver. It was touch and go but he's going to be okay" Grey spoke softly. "When can i see him?" asked Andy. "He's in the ICU right now, but i know you all are like family so just be quiet and you can all go see him" Bailey said, mostly looking at Andy to see her reaction. "Can we go?" Maya questioned. "Of course, come on, I'll bring you" Grey said. As they made their way up to his room, Vic said "Andy, you go first, if you need us we will be right out here". Andy slowly walked into his room, and looked up to see her husband laying in the hospital surrounded by tubes and wires. She sat down in the chair right next to his bed and just held his hand. "Robert, please wake up, I need you to just wake up, for me" She whispered quietly. "I'm here baby, I'm right here" He said with his scratchy voice. "You're awake!" "Yeah baby, I am." Just as Andy got up to get Bailey or Meredith, she passed out. "HELP! I NEED HELP IN HERE!" Robert screamed. The crew walked in to see Andy lying on the floor unconscious. Just then, Bailey walks in and yells " I NEED A GURNEY IN HERE NOW!!!" As they rushed Andy into another room, Robert was concerned about his wife "Can one of you go with her. I don't want her to be alone" Robert said in a soft captains voice. "Of course captain, I'll go, she's my best friend" Maya said. Maya walked out and tried to find where her friend went. As she walked by the nurses station, she asked them where her friend went, and they told her room 2319. She went to walk towards that room, when she was her girlfriend, Carina Deluca walking out of that room. "What were you doing in there, you're an ob/gyn?" Maya asked. "I'll let Andy tell you that one" Carina said. Maya walked into Andy's room "Hey" Maya said quietly. "Hi" Andy replied. "Why was Carina in here just now?" Maya questioned her best friend. "Because I'm Pregnant" Andy said nonchalantly. "OMG REALLY?! Does Sullivan know?" "Not yet i was going to tell him later tonight, i had a whole surprise planned out. But today didn't go as expected." "He's really worried about you, he sent me down here to make sure you were okay. He didn't want you to be alone." Just then there was a knock on the door, it was Chief Ripley. "How are you doing Herrera?" Ripley asked. "Please, you're Robert's best friend, call me Andy." She insisted. "How are you Andy?" "I'm good, I just have to get a few more tests and I'll be good to go." "Good, Robert wants to see you when you're all done." "Okay, I should be done within 30 minutes or so. I'm at the top of the list" She said with a smirk. "I'll go inform him now." Ripley said walking out the door. "So how are you going to tell him?" Maya asked. "I don't know, I might get a onesie and give him that with the test." "OMG! That's adorable. If you don't have the onesie, I can go grab one for you." Maya offered. "Could you please? I planned on doing a scavenger hunt for him but I didn't plan for this to happen" She slightly laughed. "Yeah, I would love to grab the stuff for you. What do you need?" "If you go to our house, there's the test in my nightstand, and I have a onesie hidden in my shirt drawer. Then on your way back up here just stop by the gift shop and grab a bag." "Okay, I'll be back in 15" "Thank you" "Of course" Just as Maya was arriving at Andy's hospital room, Carina was just finishing her ultrasound to make sure the baby was okay. "Everything looks perfect, you are about 8 weeks pregnant, so I'll print off some pictures for you, and schedule another appointment for when you're 12 weeks along" "Thank you" "You're welcome. Just make sure you are taking it easy, we don't need you to end up in the hospital again" Carina said with a slight chuckle. "Don't worry, when I tell Robert he's going to make sure I'm only doing light work anyway" Andy laughed back. They got Andy discharged, and she made it back to Robert's room with the gift bag in her hand."What's that?" Robert asked. "A present for you" Andy smirked. "Babe, you know you didn't need to get me anything." "Trust me, I think you'll enjoy this" She smiled. "Here open it" She said as she sat on his bed. He was very confused on what she possibly could've gotten him while she was in the hospital getting checked out. He pulled out the onesie and it said "Future Fighter in Training" and then looked in the bag and saw the test. "Omg! Really?" "Yes, I found out a couple days ago, but i planned on telling you after work today. But that didn't go as planned" She said gesturing to Robert laying in the hospital bed. "How far along are you?" "Just about 8 weeks" "I can't believe I'm going to be a daddy!" He shouted so loud that Bailey came in to see what all the commotion was for. "What's going on in here?" she questioned. "I'm going to be a daddy!" he said excitedly. "Congratulations!" "Thank you!!" "You're going to make amazing parents." "Thank you Bailey" "You're welcome. Hey by the way you can go home tomorrow morning." "That's great!" She left after seeing that everything was okay. The next morning rolled around and they left to visit the station and tell them the good news. They walked into the station and saw that everyone was upstairs in the beanery. "Hey guys, we have some news for y'all." Robert said. "What's up guys?" Dean said. "We just wanted to tell you that we are having a station baby" "Congrats!" They collectively said. Ripley was also there visiting Vic because it was his day off, and he missed his wife. Carina was visiting because Maya forgot some at home so she brought it. "Hey, Carina,Maya,Rip, and Vic, we wanted to ask you guys if you all collectively wanted to be the godparents" Andy asked. Of course we would!" Ripley said excited. "Andy, we would love to!" Maya said, hugging her best friend. And with that they enjoyed their rest of their days with not that many calls. 7 months later on April 23, 2022 Andy delivered a 7lb 8oz baby girl named Mia Luca Sullivan. Everyone was over the moon about a firehouse baby being born. They are all uncles and aunts to this beautiful baby girl.
