Is this reality?
Or is this just a dream?
The smell of rotten meat stunk the whole helicopter as they flew across the tattered remains of a city. Jihyo, Mina and Chaeyoung made sure to huddle together, not very enthusiastic about the people they shared the vehicle with. There was something about soldiers on duty that made chills run down your spine; emotionless eyes that had probably seen too much, a stoic face and stiff figure. It didn't rule out any possibilities that they could shoot the three just because they saved them.
One soldier noticed the girls' wary behaviour and made an attempt to reassure them. He handed Mina a bottle of water placatingly, assuring her that they would be reaching soon in what he hoped was a less hostile front. Mina stared at him with a blank expression, no longer having strength to at least give a smile, let alone accept the bottled water. It felt surreal, her mind barely registered that they were rescued. How could she? Mina's thoughts were still stuck back in the warehouse, trapped for ages and watching her members get picked off, one by one. Though fatigue made her bones ache, she turned towards the other two, the younger looking down at the city as tears trailed down her cheeks.
The city where they once stood as 9. Performing together on different stages scattered around. They wondered if their fans were okay, still waving the candy bongs proudly. Good memories seemed so far away now.
"Do we finally get to be safe?" Mina pondered. She had lost so many for the price of safety. Nonetheless, a tiny spark of hope lit up in a far corner of her mind. A small part of her said that her fallen friends would've wanted her to survive through this mess, not let their deaths be in vain. Besides, Mina had Jihyo and Chaeng, who'd never leave her, right? They're going to be safe
"MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!"
"I DON'T WANNA SEE ANY SLACKING HERE ALRIGHT?"
There was pushing and shouting, the trio always held each other's hands refused to let go, not even for a second. The great building loomed far above their heads, then broke off into different sectors made up of bolted grey steel. On the ground, a wooden sign stood flimsily bearing the words 'base camp'.
"It looks like there aren't any fans or air-conditioning around," Chaeyoung noticed, "did people die here because it was too hot?" The maknae got a swift whack on the head from Jihyo. "Don't complain, Chaeyoung. I'm sure you'll be happy to stay when you find some paper and a pen," their leader teased, hoping to liven up her friends a little.
"Unnie..."
"Be grateful okay? We're here together," Mina chuckled, walking slightly ahead from them as curiosity poked her.
"UNNIE!" Chaeyoung screamed as two soldiers grabbed her by the arms. Jihyo's eyes widened with shock while she as well was taken ahold of. Mina lunged for the two desperately, discarding the fact that a few guns were being pointed at her.
"STOP! LET GO OF ME!"
"GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF ME!"The pair's shouts overlapped each other as they struggled to free themselves, but to no avail. Jihyo and Chaeyoung were dragged away.
"MINA! STAY SAFE, WE'LL MEET LATER I PROMISE!"
Those were the last words Mina heard from Jihyo. She pleaded and shouted at the soldiers to ask why they had to be separated, but all she got back was a glare or scolding to ask her to just move forward.
Mina hated that she had to be alone, she had never been to this place, and being alone with no one she knew was even scarier for her. She was dragged into a cramped up room that was supposedly what she was going to live in for the next few years of her life. It held nothing except for a bed, carpet and table. The dust covered walls and strange aura it gave almost made her want to go back outside. Actually, she didn't mind going back out-Mina would rather fight a hundred zombies than be alone again.
