Katie arrived home that night, her mother was yet to be home but her brother was waiting for her outside.
"Hey Kat, how was your first day?", he said smiling.
"Pretty well, i think i made a statement and uhm, a memory on the new kids"she said with a sigh.
"Oh Kat, acting stupid again are we? We better not get you sent home again. Let's go wash up mom is bring us take out."Katie's mother arrived home shortly after with their food.
As she was setting the table they heard her fathers truck pull into the driveway.
Kat and Thomas has a pretty tight family, little fights here and there but, they all stuck by each other.Kat hopped in the shower and rinsed off her body, she applied shampoo to her hair and took a deep breath.
"This year is going to be different" she murmurs under he breath.
She steps out of the steamy shower and wipes off her fogged up mirror.
She looks at herself while rapping a towel around her damp chest.
"I'm going to make this year different"Later that night a storm approached, rapid wind speeds and ear pounding thunder with lightning that lit up the sky.
Katie couldn't sleep if her life depended on it.
She slipped on her house shoes and walked quietly to the kitchen.
"Kat? What are you doing up?" Thomas said standing in his doorway.
Katie jumped, "God Tom you scared me."
"Heh, sorry" he said with a chuckle.
"What are you doing up Tom, it's 2 in the morning and you have had a long day."
"Ah don't worry about me Kat, uh i do have some news though, not sure if it's good or bad."
"Spill it" Kat said sitting down at the table
"Well due to the storm, they are cancelling your 2nd day of school event, everyone will stay home. The storm is supposed to cause thousands of dollars worth of damage and that's putting lives at risk."
"Well great, there goes my second impression on this school." Kat said with a loud sigh.
"Kat let it go, you'll be home bound for a day."
