''Emmy, always remember darling, that kindness is necessary. Even though at times, people will be unkind to you and try to bring you down. They will try to distinguish your good-natured heart, so instead of distinguishing your love and kindness for this world, lend a few kind gestures for your foes and you will see just how big of a difference it will make in their lives. All they really need, is a few words to soften their hearts. Be the reason someone still believes that humanity still has dignity''
I awaken from my deep sleep as my mother's voice echoes through my mind. I still feel a bit entranced from my hypnosis. I blink a few times to let my mind sink into reality. I dreamed of her again. I remember the memory so well, as if it was yesterday. I sat up in my bed, rubbing my eyes as the memory replays through my mind. I was playing with my cousins in the courtyard. I was really happy having so many relatives my age to communicate with. However, they experienced it in the opposite way I did. I always got bullied by them. I don't know why, but they seemed to not like me at all. Even though I always let Mother bake me peanut butter cookies that I can take to them as an act of kindness, it seemed like even the most kindest gesture would not be enough for them to accept me. After they threw my baked-with-love biscuits on the floor and calling me names such as 'try hard' and 'freak' I rushed to my mother, crying uncontrollably.
''Emmy, what is the matter?'' My mother said worriedly.
''T-They-They...'' I couldn't manage to speak, as my sobbing was out of hand.
''Calm down now, dear. Tell me what happened? Mummy's right here'' My mother caressed my tear-soaked cheeks and smiled at me with all the love in her eyes.
''Rebecca and Jackson didn't accept my cookies. I tried everything, Mum. They just don't like me. Why is that? Is there something wrong with me? Do I have a demon inside me?'' I held my heart as I started bawling again.
A sweet little giggle came from her mouth. ''No my dear. Not at all. As a matter of fact, it's the total opposite. Emmy, you have an angel inside of your chest.'' She said in a high toned voice, sounding excited.
''I do?''
''Yes. And do you know why they're so mean?''
''No'' I said in a neutral voice.
''It's because they want one too. Unfortunately, angels aren't something you can buy at the market. It's something you earn. And they can't seem to understand why they can't have an angel, so they get envious of you''
''What's en-envio-e'-''
''It means that they desire the angel you have inside of you. And instead of cherishing you and being inspired by you, they get all green and nasty like little trolls'' My mother said as she gestures her hands as claws, representing a troll-like figure. I gasped at her sentence.
''However, no matter how envious they get, promise me you will always return kindness'' I look down. My mother takes my chin within her hands. Be the reason someone still believes that humanity still has dignity'' My mother said as she strokes my hair. I look up into her green eyes. ''I promise, Mum''
''Pinky Promise?'' She holds out her right hand pinky finger.
''I promise. I pinky promise'' Our pinkies intertwine as my mom invites me with a hug.
