OCEANUS

Hello Readers. My sister and I came up with this idea not to long ago. So we thought we'd try publishing it on Wattpad. Hope you enjoy!!

After writing and finishing a fan fiction, I thought I'd try this once more. Writing fan fiction is fun, but it's not much of a challenge since all of the material for creating the story is already there, it's just a matter of rearranging it. That being said, I'll try this one again. It's something my sister suggested and helped create. she even wrote the first three paragraphs.  If any one is reading this original story, thank you. It means a lot to me. You really have no idea. But enough of that. please enjoy.

Year 300 of the landing, Oceanus Time  

  12 light years from earth, exists a new world,  Oceanus, an M class water planet, devoid of dry land, engulfed in a deep ocean of water,  orbiting Tau Ceti a yellow dwarf star.

 A small moon orbits this blue world and is named Cetus by the inhabitants of the world. It is named after the constellation in which their sun was first spotted, long before Earth-kind knew of the source of the lights in the sky.  To remind us of the many sea monsters found in this global sea. Creatures of the deep resembling the mythical monsters in legends from the old world.

 The weather of Oceanus is turbulent, with gigantic hurricanes the size of entire continents swirling over the surface upsetting everything in it's path. The first settlers due to feeling helpless against the natural struggles of this global sea named their first colony, Andromeda,  after the virgin that was sacrificed to the sea monster Cetus. 

This world is believed to be a myth by most people in the present earth-system, aside from high ranking leaders that agree the old mission was a failure.

Location: Earth  date: The year 2110 a.d.

Earth, once a beautiful, raw, untamed jewel in space. Or so history archives say. Now, It has been completely been taken over by the human population and has advanced past any thing ever dreamed in the 21st century. This left almost no room for the once vast amounts of fish and fauna that we shared our planet with. Humans only had themselves to blame for the Earths sorry state.

Fifty years ago, A Group of Scientists, engineers, and agriculturalists requested a vessel to carry them to a new planet, believing that earth would soon lose all of its natural beauty. At first, it was a struggle to convince any one to fund the large project, but some agreed that it was worth the risk and helped with the project. Soon, a single colony ship containing 200 pioneers and  provisions for a year or more of survival left for space. they had set their course for the distant system of tau Ceti.

Earths atmosphere is almost completely gone and is now supported by a large man made electromagnetic field and has blocked people from what is left of the natural world. No one is allowed to interfere and further destroy the planets ecosystem. Instead, Humans use virtual reality to see how their planet used to look.

Since then, Earths mineral sources have been almost completely depleted. The mining corporations have set their sights on mars. with rich mineral deposits that sit just under the surface, It is vital to the people of earth.  they sent volunteers and large amounts of  heavy mining equipment.

The corporations of earth settled mars for that sole purpose.

Location: The Planet Mars date: 2160 a.d.

Mars is now well developed and has its own population. Albeit an unhappy one. Because Mars is a mining planet, the people of mars are just seen as a mining operation. Therefore, they don't have rights as a planet and do nothing but work in bad conditions in order to keep their home plant alive.

Mars dwellers mostly live under ground in vast caverns that were carved out. they create structures from the metals that they take from the mines. the surface has large green houses that contain earth soil and the purified water taken from the glaciers on mars. transports from earth come every so often. They pick up large amounts of  ore and leave new supplies for the miners such as freeze dried rations, clothing, and new equipment.

The Mars dwellers have become unhappy with their living conditions. Water is scarce and has to be conserved, making it impossible to keep things clean. Red soil is every where all the time. staining every thing a dull red. Red powder permanently stains the skin after a while of working on mars and eventually causes lung problems. they have tried every possible solution. But it still causes a lot of trouble for the workers. The people of Mars have started to revolt, demanding change and threatening to quit if their demands are not met.

Small rebellions spark because of this, and they grow to become quite a problem, forcing the companies to take measures to stop the miners from completely sabotaging the operations. Security is brought in to keep workers in line and to deal with any troublemakers. Garett Marks, Chief of Security takes his job very seriously, as he is paid a large sum by corporations. He stands in a mars lift, large enough for both people and a bit of cargo. They do not have the luxury to have separate human lifts. He an a dozen security officers wait for their destination in silence. There had been word of another protest on one of the lower levels. Garret tapped his foot impatiently. He hated the slow lift, as it hindered his ability to efficiently travel around the mines. He had requested that smaller faster lifts, but it was denied several times by the corporations.

The lift ground to a halt, and as the doors cracked open, the men began to file out, not even waiting for the large doors to open fully. Marks lead the way. The lift was joined to a large ware house that held tons of ore while it waited to be shipped. There were several hallways that branched out. He halted and addressed the men. "I want teams of three to search this area, the protester couldn't have gotten far. This is the only level that hasn't been searched. The only other lift is deactivated. I want one team guarding this one the rest of you, spread out and search for the rebels. Dismissed!" The team jumped into action.

Hello! I've finally decided to continue! Thanks for that comment, it inspired me to write this again. Hopefully I remember every thing I wanted to do with this story. Thank you!
