I hoped to have a good day. But who knew it would end up like this.

As always I yawned wider and sat up on my bed from my sleep, stretched my arms and got out of bed. Brushed my teeth, took a bath and had bread and jam for breakfast.

I picked up my bag and camera and walked out of the house.

I was new to the town and didn’t know where to go, so I ended up in a garden where I saw people enjoying their life to the fullest. Birds making their nests, kids playing with their parents, elders enjoying their moments and some people lost in thoughts.

I couldn’t get a perfect moment other than that, so I clicked some pictures which captured emotions and beauty.
Then I sat down on the nearby bench to take a look at the photos I clicked. Well, I wasn’t that professional but I took it as a hobby.

I took out a book from my bag and started writing about the photos I clicked. And out of somewhere came a girl and sat on the other end of the bench. She took out a book and started writing something and was lost into it.

To be honest I was an introvert and I couldn’t talk easily to a girl. And I was a type of person that could be ignored.  Apart from it, being new to the town made it more difficult for me to adjust.

So, I looked at that girl but she was lost entirely in her work as if she was the only person in that garden and no noise disturbed her. I somehow gathered up some strength to talk to her.

Hello”, I said softly

But she gave no response and was still writing. I thought she mustn’t have heard it because of the noise the kids were making. So, I raised up my voice a bit and said,

Hello”  and waved my hand a bit.
And she turned her face towards me
She didn’t give an immediate response after I said hello but it seemed as if she turned her head just because she saw a hand being waved at her.

She gave a smile and waved back
Describing her, she was as beautiful as a princess, long black hair with a shade of light brown from the side, the blue eyes and the smile which felt as if we had a relation in our previous life.

And I asked her,

Did you really not hear me?”

While I spoke, her eyes were on my lips, as if she was reading them and then the smile on her face disappeared after listening to that question.

She then started making sign languages and was trying to tell me something.

After seeing that, the smile on my face disappeared too. She was trying to tell me that she couldn’t SPEAK and HEAR.

I stammered and said, “I..I’m sorry
And I looked down to my book and started scratching my head as I felt ashamed of myself to ask her such a question.

Seeing such a face of mine, she quickly tore out the last page of her book and started writing something on it. And after she completed writing it, she placed it beside me. I turned my head towards her and then looked at the page. I picked it up and in it she wrote

IT’S ALRIGHT

I’M SELENA

And then I looked at her with a smile and she smiled back too with a happy and convinced face.

I quickly took my pen and wrote below it

I’M JADEN

She gave a beautiful smile and took the page…….

I showed her some of the pictures that I had clicked and then I travelled back home happily considering it as a positive day. I took a bath and sat down with my laptop and started transferring all the pictures from my camera into the laptop. And the last photo which I had clicked of her while leaving without letting her know about it, I kept it as my new desktop background.

I pulled out a new book from my cupboard and wrote ‘Jaden and Selena’s notebook’ on it, hoping to meet her the next day.
