It was dark. The room was enclosed in black curtains. The soft hum coming from the air conditioner is the only thing Donny can hear at the moment. It was cold but he was sweating. He got up and went to the kitchen, he was thirsty.
It took him a while before realizing that he had been standing in front of the fridge, just holding his emptied glass. He placed the glass on top of the kitchen counter and went back to his bedroom.
As he lay down in bed, he recalled his day. He had a busy day at work. He was an actor. He was a guest at a TV show this afternoon. Earlier this evening, he attended a press conference for his upcoming movie. It was a movie about Louis, a man trying to go on his everyday life, showing the world that he's contented and happy, but feels the opposite deep inside. It had a compelling script and he believed in the film. He was confident that he can portray the lead role. Fans and critics who watched the trailer had nothing but good things to say about his performance.
Everything was going well, he thought. Until one of the reporters asked him something:
"How did you relate to the character? Did you have the same experience as Louis?"
Donny was stunned. For a split second, he didn't know what to say. The reporter called his attention again. He looked back and said: "I think most of us can relate to Louis. There are times we make people see that we're okay but the truth is we're not. It's human nature."
Donny closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He's living the good life. He's accomplished so much through out his career. He's won awards, has numerous endorsements for big companies, and so much more. He's also managed to maintain a private life despite being in the public eye for so long. He should be happy. But at the end of the day, he still feels something is missing. It wasn't something money or fame can amount to. It was something else.
If people only knew... he is the real-life Louis.
