"Saan tayo pupunta?" Sharlene asked as she followed Donny.
Donny didn't answer. Instead, he kept on walking. Sharlene had to be away from Tully's. It was obvious that she was in danger, only he didn't know the extent.
He had to think of a place where he can bring Sharlene in for the meantime. But where?
After a few minutes of walking and thinking, it was too late for Donny to realize that they are already approaching the building where he lives. He stopped walking and looked at Sharlene. "You're going home with me."
There was no other choice, he'd like to believe.
Sharlene looked shocked. She started waiving her hands. "Naku, 'wag na. Nakakahiya naman. Uuwi na lang muna ako. Panigurado ipapakulong na ni Tully 'yun. Huwag ka magpapaniwala sa mga banta 'nun." She tried to act casually but Donny can see that Sharlene was still affected by what happened earlier.
Donny can't help but be annoyed with Sharlene's ability to pretend that things are fine when in fact they're not. "Stop with the bullshit. By the looks of that bastard, he clearly wasn't joking when he said he'll find you again. I'm trying to help you here, Sharlene. Don't worry, wala akong gagawing masama sa'yo. You're not my type."
Sharlene smirked. "Talaga lang, ha?"
"Sharlene, this is no time for jokes. Can you just listen to me?" Donny said, trying to act irritated.
Still holding her bag, Donny made his way at the entrance of the building. He didn't need to look if Sharlene was following him. Just by the sounds her heels were making, he can tell.
The night guard greeted him. He just nodded. When the guard was about to stop Sharlene from entering further, he held her hand and said:
"She's with me, Chief."
When the guard stepped back, Donny did not let go of Sharlene's hand. For reasons he wouldn't know now, her hand gave him a sense of comfort.
As they reached his condo unit, Sharlene's voice filled up the entire place. "Wow! Ang ganda naman ng bahay mo, idol!"
Sharlene hurriedly walked past him and went for his Article Nova sectional sofa. She sat there with an excitement on her face. "Ang lambot ng sofa! Ang sarap siguro matulog dito!"
Donny couldn't help but laugh at Sharlene. How can someone be so happy with such trivial things? He went to the fridge. "You want anything?"
He stopped at his tracks when he heard Sharlene's response. "May hard ka ba diyan?"
Well, pretty understandable, considering what happened to her a while ago.
"May balak ka bang maglasing?" He asked as he pulled out a bottle of JD from his mini-bar. He took two glasses and placed them on top of the coffee table. Sharlene took the bottle and opened it. Donny went back to the kitchen to get some snacks.
Sharlene gave him the other glass as he sat down. Donny looked at Sharlene as she emptied her glass. He couldn't help but laugh as she winced.
"Puta, ang init ng hagod!" Sharlene exclaimed.
"Ang taas ba naman ng tagay mo sa sarili mo, eh." Donny said.
Sharlene didn't respond. Instead, she took the bottle and poured herself another glass.
Is she trying to get drunk? He thought to himself as she emptied the glass yet again.
"Bawal maglasing dito." He said.
Sharlene leaned on the sofa and closed her eyes. "Gusto ko na lang makatulog. Gusto kong makalimot."
Donny didn't know what to say. He was trying so hard not to ask Sharlene about what happened at Tully's. He felt that it was too personal and would just open a can of worms.
