Plum woke up next to The Unknown. The glowing white eyes of the powerful force glared down upon her, trapping her in place. She began to stretch, without breaking eye contact with the grey monster. As she looked around, she noticed that there were airplanes, trucks, dirt, and stone. Everything was just sitting there loitering the space with a sense of boredom, waiting to be picked up. And so she did, her psychic abilities were great and capable of lifting everything up and back into the air. The floating island was gone, and nobody was left to bind her. The powers were not a curse as everyone had predicted, they were in fact a blessing. Plum smiled and The Unknown backed down.
"We're here now."
The Unknown was slithering around leaving a thin trail of slime behind them. It smelled sickly, and Plum surmised that it was caused by their stress. Plum had no time to be stressed, her brain was running wild with possibilities and blind fear. Low music began playing in the inner canal of her left ear.
The circus had a spinning red and white wheel that resembled a ferris wheel but without the cars for patrons to ride around in. People were coming in by the masses and taking a tour of the scenery. Scary monster cardboard cutouts were situated all around the attraction to draw fear out of the civilians visiting. It was decided that it simply would not be right for the airport used by the monster population to be left around in the new Prism City. Plum's parents were seen as completely regular people and were therefore excluded from being placed directly into the circus. As Plum walked around she noticed cobwebs and trails from unfamiliar animals, she wasn't sure exactly how long she had been out for, but it was definitely longer than she had intended. What had she truly intended? What was this big plan she had talked up for herself for so many years? It all seemed so pointless against the backdrop of flashing lights that catapulted themselves at Plum's unblinking eyes.
The Unknown wanted to cry and they weren't sure precisely why. It was certain that they believed that this was the future that had been worked so long upon constructing. The patrons would walk in a small paved stone entranceway and exchange various cards for free passes or free rides on various roller coasters. The large attractions were just for an extra draw, truly a small expense in the midst of everything else around them. Bits and pieces of the districts from UpperGate made up the great bridges that connected the typical fair attractions to the more grim experiments. These experiments allowed tourists from all sorts of far off lands to experience a world of monsters up close and personal, of course not too close though there was glass everywhere. Chief itself was very proud of it's image that was plastered with grim red eyes shed with the lifeforce of energy. On every attraction there was a glowing billboard screen showing the Chief staring down at the subjects, absolutely everyone there following it's precise plan. The pictures hardly tried to disguise Chief's appearance as an alien creature, nothing about it's face echoed the essence of a human. The Unknown shuddered seeing their boss look down upon them for one last time.
Jasmine was the last to wake up. The circus was in full affect and all she could do was watch. The group was found before too long, by workers masked and confused. Chief was nowhere to be seen, gone far away from it's successful experiment. Plum continued to search for Geoffrey, but now strangely, she searched for her parents. They were the figures she missed most in this confusing world.
