The ambulance took another sharp turn and I became dead sure that we weren't heading towards the hospital. I stared out of the small window of the ambulance and recognized the road. We were on the highway. I placed my hand on Chase's uninjured arm and he looked at me.

"We aren't heading towards the hospital." I whispered in his ear. "This is a trap."

"What do you mean?"

He rubbed away the few drops of blood that had trickled down my cheek from a small wound nearby.

"It's a trap, Chase. We're leaving the city." I managed to whisper.

Chase turned his head quickly and looked out of the window.

"Where are you taking us?" Chase spoke aloud.

The driver looked at us in the rear-view mirror and smiled.

"Ï'm sorry"

Chase got up from his seat and pounced towards the driver. I don't know what happened next. Everything blacked out.

If it were not for the bad odor that teased my nasal cavity, I would have never woken up from that dead sleep. I felt Chase's hand in mine, and I squeezed it tightly. I opened my eyes, and the first thing I saw was the intricate pattern of the high ceiling with a huge chandelier above me. I was lying on the cold floor with unconscious Chase next to me. Beams of light were streaming through the rotten wooden slats placed on the window panes. Infinite dust particles were dancing and swirling in the rays of light piercing through the wood. They seemed like little pixies, dancing in the sunlight.

I looked out, and Dust seemed like the only inhabitant of this place. Thick blanket of dust was covering the black wood furniture. The large dining table was present in the centre of the hall. I stood up from the floor, and stared around. It seemed like a dining place of a very old palace. The spider webs were clinging to the candle stands on the table.

The odor that woke me up was of the rotten food on the table. I pressed my hand against my nose and removed the silver cover off a pot. There were dead mice inside with the remains of rotten food.

I heard Chase's groan.

"Are we dead?"he whimpered.

I sat beside him and stroked his cheek softly.

"No, we are very much alive. Open your eyes." I sighed.

He slowly opened his eyes and looked around. "Prove it."

I smiled and planted a light kiss on his lips. "Enough?"

"Yes, for time being." He sighed. "Where are we?"

" I don't know. We are in some sort of abandoned building, I think." I said.

I helped Chase to get up from the floor. His left arm was injured when he tried to push me out through the broken glass of the car, earlier. I got few bruises, but nothing serious.

I rolled back his sleeve and looked at the wound. The nurse had bandaged his arm on the scene of the accident but we were heading towards the hospital for thourough checkup.

"Does it hurt?"

"Ä little. But don't worry, I'm alright" Chase stroked my cheek gently.

Chase walked towards the wooden slats of the windows and peeked outside.

"Let's get out of this place." I said. "I'm having bad vibes."

I started walking towards the huge wooden door at the corner of the hall. I was about to touch the door knob when Chase spoke,
