A/n: Hey guys! Sorry it took me so long to update, but I actually work in healthcare, and with everything going on right now, this is literally the first chance I've had to work on this since my last update... Hope you all enjoy!)
"I'm so sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going. Are you okay?" My words slowed down a bit with the question as my eyes raised to meet the black eyes above me. Before me stood Mori, looking down at me with a mostly neutral expression. He nodded to say he was alright before Honey popped out from behind his legs.
"Don't worry, Chrissy-chan! Takashi's strong: walking into him won't hurt him!" His bright smile and cheerful demeanour was contagious, causing a smile to rise on my lips.
"If you're sure. Now I should really join back up with Kamina." I went to take a step, but Honey grabbed my hand and looked up at me with sparkling eyes.
"Could you pretty please come sit with us? Me and Takashi don't have any guests right now, and you could come eat some cake with us!" I paused for a moment, glancing over to see Kamina talking to Haruhi, more relaxed than I'd seen her all day. I looked back down at the pleading upperclassman and slowly nodded.
"Sure. If it's not any trouble." Honey beamed, flowers forming around him.
"It's no problem! Right, Takashi?" Honey looked at the tall male, who nodded in agreement.
"Hn." He really didn't speak much at all... I was led by an excited Honey to their table, where I was sat between the two. I glanced at the table which was (no surprise) overflowing with sweets. Honey once again turned to me, eyes wide and genuinely curious.
"What's your favorite kind of cake? Mine is strawberry!" I chuckled quietly and shrugged.
"I don't eat sweets too often... But I do have a weakness for white cake with lemon whipped cream." The words were barely out of my mouth when a plate was placed before me. On the china sat a slice of light, fluffy white cake coated in a layer of whipped cream, a slice of candied lemon resting on top. The tanned hand pulling back to rest beside the tall frame of Mori shocked me a bit, expecting Honey to have passed me the cake. I simply smiled and thanked him quietly before taking a small bite of the cake. I tried to hide my reaction, but Honey giggled as my eyes lit up.
"It's good, right? Kyo-chan found the best bakery to make our cakes so yummy!" He shoved a large forkful of strawberry cake into his mouth, munching happily. I smiled and took another small bite. I was about to take a third bite when I paused, feeling a glare on my back. I glanced around as discreetly as I could to find its source. My eyes met those of the girls from the twins' table, making me unconsciously lower the fork back to the plate and look away. In looking down at my cake, I missed the look shared by the cousins at my sides. Honey nodded to Mori before dramatically picking up the teapot.
"Looks like we're out of tea. I'll go get some more! Eat more of your cake, and I'll be right back, okay?" He handed me Usa-chan and hopped off with the teapot. I blinked on confusion: I could've sworn I just saw steam come out of the pot's spout. My confusion was interrupted by a deep voice from my right.
"Don't listen." I turned to Mori, blinking, my head cocked slightly to the side.
"What?" Mori leaned almost imperceptively closer, his voice just as soft as before.
"Don't listen to them. They're the type that will say anything out of jealousy. No matter how untrue." I stared at him in shock before looking away in embarrassment, petting Usa-chan's ears.
"I-it's fine. I know they were just jealous they didn't have the twins' full attention... But they're not wrong." The last part was mumbled to myself, my chin resting on the head of the stuffed animal in my lap. Before Mori could respond, Honey returned with the teapot, placing it on the table before sitting back down beside me.
"Chrissy-chan, are you feeling sick? You didn't eat any of your cake!" Honey's eyes showed more concern than just worrying about the cake. I half smiled and held his bunny out to him.
"I just didn't want to get Usa-chan dirty." He took the rabbit back, but only smiled when I took another bite of cake.
"Thank you! Chrissy-chan is super nice, isn't she Takashi?" Mori looked right at me as I chewed slowly, the tiniest change in expression not going unnoticed by his cousin.
"Yeah."
