Epilogue

Miguel Filemino Suarez

"Announcement, all freshmen students will have an assembly at the open court on Friday. Attendance is a must," she said.

I just looked at her. How I wish she was mine. I never had a crush before.

"What the-"

Alam ko, hindi naman sila mabubusog kung kumain ako... but at least you know that you're not wasting any food.

"Bakit ka ba tulala?" tanong niya.

"May meeting daw freshmen," I said instead. I looked at her again. She was on the stage, saying the announcement, while I'm here in the sea of people. She was the representative for freshmen students of the campus and who am I, really?

I'm just Migo.

Just the guy who plays basketball.

I'm nothing compared to her.

"I won't attend," he said.

"Attendance is a must," I told him.

"So?"

"Nevermind," I said. There's really no sense in talking with someone like him. I don't know why I was friends with him in the very first place.

After the rosary, I headed to the gym while Alfie headed to his building.

"Open!" I said.

Fabian passed me the ball.

I aimed for the ring and tried to shoot the ball. Alesso fistbumped with me when the ball whirled inside the ring. "Nice, nice," he said.

After the training, we just sat at the bleachers. I've been friends with them for so long, I don't know what I would do without them.

"Drink up," Greg said as he handed me a gatorade.

"Thanks," I said.

We were just looking at the court.

So random.

"Wala," I answered. "Why?"

Bros before hoes, dude. Ekis 'yon."

I laughed. "Shoot your shot, Greg."

He nodded. "I will."

I really hope I had their confidence. I wish it was that easy, but I guess I'm really just a loser for not even trying.

For years, I watched her from afar. I watched how passionate she was in being a leader. Everyone saw that, not only me... that's why years after she became the student body president.

Alfie kept on asking me who's my crush, but I gave him no answers. I'm a hundred percent sure that he would only tease me and make me confess to her. That's just how he is.

"Migo, we've been friends for years... if you tell me the truth, I will accept it. I promise," he dramatically said.

My forehead creased. "What?"
