Until one day, they became even closer. They spent the entire day together, as they had no royal duties to perform that day, and feelings that they didn't know had began to blossom.
He called her "love" in a joking manner, and her heart raced faster.
She teased him about marriage, and he slightly blushed.
Little signs, that neither noticed. It wasn't until they were wrapped in each other's arms that they realized, they were in love.
But alas, these feelings were forbidden. They shouldn't care so much for the other, it would ruin their friendship.
So the Prince left, without confessing his feelings, and the Princess let him go without clueing him in.
Later, when they were talking, he told her, in slightly uncertain terms. And she poured her heart out to him.
Finally, he asked her to be his, and she squeeled and jumped and was happy enough to fly. He didn't just stitch up her heart, as she had done for herself; when he told her that he loved her, it was as if her heart was new, as if it had never been broken.
And so their life began.
