Chapter 3

Qibli: Qibli laid in his bed, the soft light of the morning creeping through the sky hole in his room. His soft camel skin bed lay in the very back corner of his spacious room. Unlike the interrogation room, Qibli's room was decorated with vibrant silk tapestries, and the smooth floor was almost completely covered in multi-colored carpets. During the night he had had horrible nightmares about dragons hurting themselves, and about dying in cold dungeons. He was awoken from his slumber by the noise of a creaking door. Qibli's eyelids flew open in alarm as a dragon opened his door, his muscles tensed up getting ready to attack the intruder.

"Whoa, sorry for startling you!" said a Sandwing guard in a hushed tone.

"I-Its fine," Qibli said sighing in relief.

"What time is it" he asked the guard.

"About 6:30" he replied sounding a bit annoyed.

"I was told to wake you up because there's  an important meeting about to start."

"What!" Qibli said in alarm

"A meeting, right now?"

"Yes," the guard said looking slightly amused.

"I'll give you a moment to get ready." he said, leaving the room.

Qibli stretched out his sore muscles, and adjusted his earring. Qibli eyelids felt heavy as he walked toward the meeting room. He new the castle quite well and got to the room relatively fast. Going to have to skip breakfast again, Qibli thought, trying to ignore his rumbling stomach. When he opened the door to the meeting room there were already about five dragons there, Queen Thorn, two guards, a sea wing, and Winter. His heart skipped a beat when he saw Winters iridescent white scales.

Qibli's heart started beating out of control, and when Winter looked at him his stomach started doing somersaults as if he were falling through the air with no wings. Qibli might have imagined it, but it looked like Winter had straightened his back and wings like he did when higher ranking Icewings walked past him. For some reason this made Qibli's heart beat faster.

"Good morning, Qibli" Thorn said .

"We saved you a seat next to your friend" she said in a relaxed tone.

"We were just discussing how Sanctuary needed more supplies in order to finish construction." said a dragon that Qibli assumed was Riptide. Oh, Sanctuary, the town that the talons of piece were making that was similar to possibility!  Qibli thought.

"We were hoping that the Sandwings could give us supplies in exchange for a big pile of gold" Riptide said as Qibli found his seat next to Winter. he could feel Winter's cold scales, for their shoulders were very close together. Qibli's mind started racing. Should I talk to him?  he wondered. No not right now idiot, he scolded himself. Maybe I should talk to him after the meeting, but what if he doesn't want to talk me, he thought. I'll never know unless I try, besides what's the worst that can happen,  he thought.

"Qibli, pay attention, you look like you've just seen the worlds largest camel floating around in here!" Queen Thorn said, clearly annoyed with Qibli's lack of attention.

"Oh, um, y-yeah" Qibli said.

"I'll start listening" He lied. How could Qibli pay attention while the worlds most handsome dragon was standing next to him?

After the meeting was over Qibli walked up to Winter trying desperately not to do something dumb, like trip over his own talons.

"Hey" Qibli said, hoping that he didn't sound as nervous as he actually was.

"Did you miss me?" Qibli asked with fake confidence.

"Um- I guess it was nice- I mean maybe- uh...n- no" he stuttered. Qibli thought that that was adorable.

"I have to go." Winter said quickly.

"Um, bye" Winter said walking towards the exit.

Also sorry that this one is a little short. it takes me forever to write these so...
