You decided that you have a better chance of staying alive if you went through the door farther away from the thing that could still be outside the door waiting. The door is attached to a large open room. The room had stairs and a closet. While trying to calm down from your encounter you sit on a couch that has blood or pasta sauce on it. While sitting there you hear heavy breathing coming from the closet. You walk up to the closet and it sounds like the breathing is being muffled.
