Eunsook is judging Jungkook and Seokjin's arm wrestling match when she sees the familiar FBI agent appear on the CCTV footage.
"Ha! I win." Jungkook sticks his tongue out at Seokjin in triumph, but Seokjin refuses to buy it.
"No, that was illegal! That, uh, elbow placement was not regulation!" Seokjin scrambles. They've had six matches so far, and Jungkook has emerged victorious all six times. Seokjin is trying to maintain some dignity, and is relying on Eunsook to back him up on this, but her eyes are trained on the screen. "Right, Eunsook?" He shoots her a look and nudges her, adequately stealing her attention.
"Oh, um. Yeah. For sure." She says, not wanting to admit she had completely zoned out at the sight of Namjoon. Jungkook gasps indignantly, shaking his head in disbelief.
"You're full of shit! You didn't even see my obvious victory, you were too busy making googly eyes at Kim Namjoon's punk ass." Jungkook protests, poking her sharply in the side. Eunsook snorts at this, but notices the hint of sincerity behind Jungkook's words. Even though she and Namjoon made up after their misunderstanding, Jungkook hasn't quite come around to him. Seokjin and Eunsook have tried to tell him it doesn't make sense for him not to like him anymore, but Jungkook is stubborn, for a reason unbeknownst to them.
"Maybe you're just a sore loser, Kook." Eunsook teases, poking Jungkook's chest in retaliation. Before Jungkook can argue any further, Eunsook grabs her order pad and a bigger book—the sketchbook Namjoon had given her. Jungkook rolls his eyes at the sight of it and watches as Eunsook skates out to the dining room.
"Ha. I win." Seokjin eggs him on, and Jungkook just sighs
When Eunsook appears, a smile lights up Namjoon's face. It only widens when he sees the sketchbook in her hands. Jokingly, he rubs at his eyes before training them even wider on her sketchbook. "Do mine eyes deceive me?" He asks, and Eunsook chuckles at his theatrics.
"Calm down. Nothing to see here." She says, putting the book down on the counter.
"Are you suuure?" Namjoon asks, reaching his hand over to open the sketchbook, but Eunsook slaps his hand away.
"No peeking! I'm getting your coffee first." She says, and Namjoon sighs, still teasing her.
"So demanding." He smiles at her, and Eunsook rolls her eyes, but smiles nevertheless. Namjoon can tell she's trying to seem annoyed with him, but he knows she isn't. Really, she's just trying to stall. Showing Namjoon her art makes her more nervous than she's ever been. She rarely showed anyone her art even when she did it often, but this being her first piece after a long time not even daring to brandish a pencil makes it even more nerve wracking. Not to mention that it's Namjoon. Namjoon makes her nervous anyways.
Little do either of them know, Jungkook and Seokjin watch from the back on the CCTV cameras. Jungkook makes a disgusted face, nose crinkling. "Ew. They're flirting." He observes, not liking the way Namjoon's words make a blush appear on Eunsook's face. He can't hear what he's saying, but it bothers him nonetheless.
"Oh, stop it. It's cute." Seokjin says, but Jungkook continues to grumble.
"If by cute you mean gross." Jungkook responds, and Seokjin gives him a side eye. "What's that for?" He asks.
"Are you jealous or something?" Seokjin asks, and Jungkook manages half a laugh.
"What? No. Eunsook...Eunsook's, uh...Eunsook's got cooties." He rambles, and Seokjin gasps, nudging the younger boy.
"Oh my God, you are jealous!" Seokjin exclaims, and Jungkook continues to deny it, but Seokjin doesn't buy it for a second.
Meanwhile, Eunsook sets down Namjoon's coffee and he takes a sip immediately, and Eunsook isn't even surprised at this point that he downed the scalding liquid so easily. "Okay. I've had some coffee, can I see now?" He asks, as if he was an impatient child. Only then can he see how nervous Eunsook is. Her fingers fiddle with the edges of the sketchbook out of habit.
"Okay, keep in mind that this is just a sketch, and I messed up in a few places, and I was doing it from memory so I didn't have a reference point—"
"Eunsook." Namjoon cuts her off. He gently lays his hand on top of her fidgeting ones, and the pink on her cheeks escalates to a vivid fuchsia. "I'm sure it's amazing. It came from you." Eunsook feels her heart skip a beat, and swallows dryly, speechless.
"I'm gonna throw up." Jungkook says, witnessing the scene from the back, but Seokjin just shushes him.
Unable to find words, Eunsook settles for flipping open the book to the first page.
There, Namjoon sees a face he recognizes. A big, bright smile, and grown out black hair. It's on an angled view, a side profile, and the jawline is sharp, shaded beautifully to highlight it. Lines bracket the smile, and it's incredibly detailed, a small freckle beneath his lower lip, a silver hoop earring in the ear. Kind eyes that hold happiness, the emotion translating through the drawing. The drawing is in black and white, but clear enough to look like a photo rather than a drawing. Namjoon exhales, awed.
"This is unbelievable." He murmurs, fingers gently caressing the lines of the drawing. "Breathtaking. You're so talented, Eunsook. Seriously. Is this Jungkook?" He asks. Eunsook nods, smiling shyly and just so relieved Namjoon likes her work.
Meanwhile, in the back, Jungkook's jaw drops. He quickly shuts it so as not to get clowned by Seokjin, but a smug smile forms on his lips. Ha, take that, Kim, he thinks to himself.
"It is. Jungkook's kinda my rock. He's my only friend, besides Seokjin, who's the cook here. I just...I couldn't think of who to draw so I drew him." Eunsook explains, and at her words, she sees a glint of something in Namjoon's eyes...is that jealousy?
"Wow. He seems...great." He says, trying to hide it, but Eunsook can see it plain as day. She's never really seen Namjoon like this, but she finds it kind of amusing. Seeing someone who's as composed as Namjoon like this and knowing she's the one who made him this way is funny.
"Are you okay?" She asks, deciding to tease him a bit. "You're looking a little green." She says, and Namjoon furrows his eyebrows at her.
"Huh?" Namjoon asks, and Eunsook grins at him knowingly. "Green?"
"Green with envy." She smiles, and Namjoon laughs a bit, and this time, he's the one who's blushing.
"Honestly?" He says. "I am a little jealous. You paint him in the light that you see him in...I'd like you to look at me like that someday." He says truthfully, with that same genuine sincerity that makes Eunsook like him even more with each word.
"I already do." She says, and Namjoon smiles at her, blindingly enough to make her completely lose her train of thought. Luckily, Namjoon's phone rings, and he answers, giving Eunsook time to collect herself.
"Talk to me, gorgeous." He says, and this causes Eunsook's eyebrows to shoot up. Gorgeous? "Really? Okay. You've alerted everyone else? And the police department we're setting up in? Ah, of course you did. You're a genius. Thanks, beautiful." He says, hanging up, and glancing up at Eunsook apologetically. Before he can let the apology for him about to have to leave roll off his lips, he sees the look on Eunsook's face.
"Who...uh, who was that?" Eunsook asks, trying to sound indifferent, but Namjoon just smirks.
"Who's jealous now?" He wiggles his eyebrows at her, and she glares, but he knows she doesn't mean it. "Don't worry, it's Jimin. He's my work husband."
"Oh, your work husband. Okay." Eunsook laughs a little. "I'm guessing your work husband told you you have to go?"
"Yeah. I'd stay if I could. As pretty as Jimin is, I'd much rather stay here and look at you." Namjoon says. Eunsook grins a bit.
"You always know exactly what to say, Agent Kim." She smiles, and he stands up, shrugging his jacket back on.
"Ugh, it sounds so much better when you say it." He says, and goes to leave, but stops. "Hey, seriously though. Keep drawing. You're amazing." He calls to her, and like that, he's gone, leaving Eunsook just as awake in the middle of the night shift as he always does.
hope u enjoyed!!! lmk what you think!
