Snow...
The clouds' ashes.
Y/n looks into the sky as the snow gently falls from the grey clouds above, coating the large memorial of her cousin. The tears stained on her cheeks slowly freeze. It's been seven days since she last saw him. Seven days of torture. A comforting arm wraps across her shoulders as she lets out a silent sob, pulling her into their warm embrace.
"Shh. He's happy now. Zane's safe from any more harm," Jay murmurs into her hair as she clings tight to his black suit.
"But he's gone," Y/n whimpers before letting out another cry.
"No." Jay pulls back and lifts her chin gently to look at him. "He's still here. He's in our hearts and minds. We need to treasure that."
Y/n sniffles and wipes a tear off her face and looks back at the boy. "Y-You're right," She hiccups. "But it's never going to be the same."
"I know," Jay squeaks, trying to hold back from crying. "I know."
The two hug, crying together for a few more minutes, allowing Cole, Kai, and Lloyd to join in. As they back away, Y/n turns to the statue and then back to the group.
"You all go back. I'm going to stay here for a while. I need some time to think," She says quietly, gesturing towards their car.
"Are you sure? We can stay if you'd-" Lloyd starts
"I'm fine. I need a moment. I'll let you all know if I need anything," Y/n forces on a fake smile and nods.
"Y/n-"
"Lloyd, I'll be fine."
The group hesitates, and then turn around and make their way back to the car. They look back to watch Y/n wave at them. As the car drives off, Y/n watches, and then turns to the statue. By now, the plaza had become a graveyard. No one and nothing makes a sound. There is no one in sight. With a sigh, Y/n walks forwards towards the statue.
"Hey Zane," She starts, sitting down at the base. "I miss you."
A quiet bird cry sounds in the distance, followed by the small figure of Zane's falcon coming into view. Y/n sits and watches the falcon float down to a perch on the statue's arm, watching the girl.
"I'm sorry Zane. I'm so sorry," she cries, making the bird tilt its head. "I could've saved you. I should've! You were the last family I had. You made me feel like I belong somewhere. I-" The girl stops and lets out a cry. "I don't know what to do now Zane. I don't feel like I have a place anymore."
Y/n places her head in her hands, crying. Seconds later, she feels a light touch on her shoulder, somehow sending reassuring feelings through her. The falcon sat perched on her shoulder and lightly nuzzles its head onto hers. Y/n looks up at the bird and smiles softly.
"I bet you miss him too, huh?" she chuckles.
The bird stops its actions and then looks at the statue. A light blue hue emanates from its eyes, revealing an image before them. Y/n's jaw drops and she slowly stands up and walks towards the image, wiping away her tears.
"Z-Zane?" she asks in a hushed voice.
"Why are you crying Y/n?" The hologram of the robot asks.
"Oh Zane," Y/n begins to cry as she races towards the hologram. She tries to reach out and touch him, but her hand goes right through. Her face sinks and she backs away, looking at the familiar face. "Zane, I... I'm so sorry!" She cries
"What for?" The robot tilts his head in confusion.
"I could've saved you! You could still be... you could still be alive if I stepped in," The girl looks down.
