For Wave, being around Pang wasn't easy. Wave's heart would beat fast every time Pang, his boyfriend, would walk into the room. His heart would beat during class, during lunch, and during tutoring. Tonight, of course, was no exception. Tonight marked the beginning of their weekly movie nights as a couple.
Wave marched his way over to Pang's room, laptop under one arm and an overnight bag over the other shoulder. He planned on staying over even if his room was only a few doors down. The overnight bag seemed like overkill, but he wanted to be prepared.
Pang opened his door with that stupid grin he always had plastered onto his face. Wave's heart started to race faster as if it belonged to an Olympic sprinter. He felt the urge to smile back at his boyfriend, but he resisted in favor of pushing past Pang to hide his rosy cheeks.
Wave sat down on the bed, and Pang followed, sitting right next to him. He was so close that their legs were touching. "What are we watching tonight?"
Wave shrugged. "I picked last time. It's your turn."
Pang stared at Wave with wide eyes. "You're really letting me pick the movie? Who are you, and what have you done with my boyfriend?"
Wave scoffed but internally cooed at the boyfriend part. "Nevermind. You lost your movie-picking privileges." He logged onto his Netflix account and scrolled. "Have you seen Death Note?" When Pang shook his head, Wave clicked on the icon bringing up the anime. "It's not a movie, but I think you'll like it."
"Are we starting a series together, then?" Pang asked. "Don't people only start a series when they'll be with each other for a long time?"
"If you don't shut up, I'm leaving."
Pang hugged Wave around the waist to hold him in place. "Nooo, I promise I'll be good. Please stay. I'll watch every series ever with you."
Wave rolled his eyes but stayed anyway. He settled back against the headboard of Pang's bed while Pang turned off all the lights. They settled in to watch the anime with Pang's arm resting on Wave's shoulders. The heavy feeling of Pang's arm made Wave's head feel fuzzy. All he could feel was Pang, Pang, Pang.
"Are you even watching this?" Pang asked about halfway through the third episode.
Wave sighed. "Honestly, not really. I'm just tired, sorry," he lied. He was actually distracted by how overwhelming being around Pang was.
Wave could feel Pang stick his face against the side of his head near Wave's ear. "Do you want to sleep, then? You can stay here if you want."
"Yeah, okay." Wave tensed a little, then said in a stern voice, "But no funny business or you're sleeping in the hallway."
Pang laughed. Wave's heart hurt. "You'll kick me out of my own room? Harsh."
"Don't test me." Wave closed his laptop and put it on the floor since Pang's nightstand was a mess. He snuggled under the blankets, and Pang followed shortly after.
"Can I at least hug you for a little bit? You smell really good."
Wave rolled his eyes. He thought that Pang smelled good too, but he would never say that out loud. "If you really want to."
So Wave fell asleep faster than he had in his life with his boyfriend's arm around his waist. He felt more comfortable with Pang in his messy room and unmade bed than he felt anywhere else. Being around Pang wasn't easy, but there was nowhere else he would rather be.
