Seriously?! You thought as you angrily adjusted in your sleep for the fourth time. Finally getting comfortable around the massive knee that had just been shoved into your back, you relaxed and began to fall back to sleep. That is until the covers were ripped from your body by the sleeping male next to you. You huffed in quiet annoyance and, like most nights now, made your way to the spare bedroom which was slowly turning in to your room.
At least I don't have to sleep on the couch.
The bed was cold and the mattress a bit lumpy after years of use, but at least there was a vacant spot for you. After a brief pang of guilt at leaving your boyfriend to sleep alone for the third time this week, you fell into a deep sleep.
"Really, (Y/N)?!" A loud voice called, startling you awake. You looked sleepily at the doorway which was filled entirely with the hulking figure of your long-time boyfriend, Hitomu. His features weren't distinguishable in the darkness of the room, but you could tell by his stance and tone that he wasn't happy with you. "Are you just going to sleep in here every night? Do you even come to bed anymore?"
Definitely not happy.
"I come to bed! ...I just can't always stay asleep," you said in a small voice. You stopped explaining why you couldn't sleep long ago, deciding it wasn't worth the trouble.
"We literally just spent three thousand fucking dollars on a new mattress so you could sleep, and you aren't even using it?!" He complained, his voice only slightly raised. You grimaced and got out of bed. Your body ached from sleeping on the old bed, even if it was only for a few hours.
"I would love to use the mattress," you said in a low voice that he heard, nevertheless.
"Oh. Right. It's my fault. Right. Of course!" Hitomu grumbled as he left the doorway and stormed throughout the rest of your house.
Fuck. You thought as you heard him making coffee rather aggressively. You waited until you heard the inevitable shattering of glass before you made your way into the kitchen. Luckily, you had the foresight to purchase a few extra pots the last time this happened. It was one thing to start the day angry, but another entirely to start it angry and without coffee. Silently, you fished out a new pot, handed it to your boyfriend, and began to clean the broken bits of glass from the countertop and floor. Neither of you spoke until after the coffee was finished brewing and the eggs and rice done cooking.
"So, what was it this time?" Hitomu asked in forced lightness. You pursed your lips. You really really did not want to start your day like this. When his burning gaze continued to linger on you, you looked up into his dark eyes and sighed.
"Knee in the back and no covers," you said grudgingly. Hitomu looked off the side with a huff. "It's fine Hito, hones-"
"Why don't you wake me up?! Why don't you tell me to move or take the covers back from me? It's ridiculous that you sleep in the fucking guest room every night anymore!" With effort you succeeded in not rolling your eyes, but you couldn't help giving him an 'are you serious' look.
"The last time I tried to move your leg or wake you up, you literally kicked me out of bed," you reminded him, and he scowled. He didn't believe you when you had told him this, but it was true. A few weeks ago, the exact situation that happened last night transpired, but instead of getting up, you tried to push his knee back to his side of the bed. When your weak arms couldn't move his tree trunk of a leg, you tried to wake him, only to have both of his legs come up and push you out of the bed and on to your ass.
"Really, Hito. It's fine. It's not every night." That was almost a lie at this point. It was rare that you were able to sleep through the night next to him anymore, and the nights when you were able to, he slept horribly, which was definitely not worth it. He was worse than a sick infant when he didn't sleep well, and you would rather fight the lumpy guest bed every night than deal with him like that. Hitomu looked like he wanted to argue more, but he eventually deflated.
