"You must be, Miss (L/N)," he said in a voice like honeyed silk. "Or is it Mrs.?" He asked, glancing at your left hand which was currently tucked inside of your right one.

"Oh, uh, no. I mean, yes, I am Miss (L/N), no, I'm not married," you spluttered, stumbling over your words, as you help up your bare left hand. The man nodded as he continued to gaze at you.

"You come highly recommended. I called quite a few agencies before agreeing to take you on, and they all assured me of your professionalism and competence. I hope that is the case." Although it could have been easy to get swept away by his smooth voice, his words made you bristle.

"Of course, Sir," you said with a bit more bite than you intended. The man's lips curved up slightly on one side at your response.

"Well, if you have any questions..." He let the sentence trail off while turning away from you to head down the hall.

"Actually," you called after him, making him pause, "I do have questions." He turned back around, not visibly irritated, but you sensed that he was.

"Go on," he said when you didn't immediately ask anything.

"I was told I would be working as a general secretary during my time here. Normally that type of work is less burdensome than working under heroes personally. I would like to know if my pay and time here will be altered accordingly." You spoke clearly and confidently. You have worked in this setting too long to be taken advantage of. This kind of thing used to happen all of the time. You would get hired for one position only to be transferred as soon as you started working, but your pay would stay the same even if the job was more demanding. Todoroki raised his eyebrows at you, but you didn't waiver under his intense gaze.

"Papers were left for you at the front desk detailing the changes made. I am assuming you haven't read them yet?" He looked at you in a way you couldn't decipher. It seemed like he disapproved of your lack of responsibility in reviewing your employment documentation, but it also looked like he was holding back a smirk.

Was he joking with me?

"Your assumption would be correct as I did not receive any paperwork from the front desk. Only my keycard," you explained in a professional voice. You were good at dealing with people of all types, even over powerful egotistical heroes. Hell, you even managed to survive working directly under Katsuki Bakugo without too much trouble, but reading the pro hero in front of you was a little more challenging. Todoroki let out an annoyed sigh before walking past you and into your space. He paused for a minute, looking around at the now tidy contents of the desk, before grabbing the phone by the monitor and dialing two numbers. A high pitched, irritated voice came through the receiver though you couldn't hear what the woman said.

"This is Shoto," the man said in a low voice. The woman made a noise on the other end before rambling what were probably apologies.

"Send up the employment paperwork for Miss (L/N)," he said without acknowledging the woman. He waited for her to respond. "It doesn't matter if she didn't ask for it, it was your job to give it to her." His patience was starting to wane. He pinched the bridge of his nose while he held the phone away from his ear. "This is your last warning, Carla," he said tiredly before hanging up the phone. He turned to look at the stacks of papers on the desk before turning back to you.

"Carla will be up shortly with your new employment contract, your login information, in office and frequently used agency phone numbers, and your new schedule. I take it," he motioned to the smallest stack of papers at the end of the desk, "these are for me to review?"  You smiled a bit, feeling better about your time here knowing that at least one person had their shit together.
