Before Neverland

Hey guys! I'm really loving this story so far. It's really a mashup of a few different story ideas together and I'm just going with it. Hope you're enjoying it so far. ~ xo Kai

"Hey girl! Damn, if I was straight I would gobble you up like a milky way" Tyler said as I slid into the passenger's seat of his beat up 4 door sedan. Tyler is a tall, slim guy with blonde hair that is always in his face. I lecture him about it all the time. I am 100% convinced that if he didn't hide his eyes, he'd never be single another day in his life.

I slammed the door behind me and pulled my headphones, still blaring with music, down around my neck. I pulled my backpack onto my lap and then once I had my seat-belt on I threw it onto the messy back seat, piled with clothes and fast food wrappers. I wouldn't be needing it until after the show anyway. Everything of importance I had in the pouch on my thigh. My phone, wallet, and lipstick all held a place there. The backpack just held essentials for an overnight adventure.

Anything not to have to sneak back inside. I hated climbing back up the side of the house. I always thought that was super sketchy actually. I'm always afraid somebody will call the cops if I'm going in. I mean, realistically I don't think it would make a difference between coming out or going in, but you know... Anxiety. So anyway, I usually just end up staying with Tyler after a show. It's usually like 2am by the time we get back anyway.

Tyler and I go to a lot of shows together, but this one was Never-land Survives! They are legit my favorite band and there is no way I would miss this show for anything! If a band is coming to Maine, they're taking a risk. So I've been waiting for them to come here for years. I almost splurged on VIP tickets but I just couldn't do it in the end. Meeting them would ultimately be the craziest thing to happen in my existence, ever. I had to see them live, I even stopped eating lunch so I could get the money to come to this show. It really is too bad I didn't get those VIP tickets though.

When we get to the venue and pay for our parking, we end up about a half a mile from the entrance. They always do that at the shows up here. They put the dang venues in the middle of town where there is no where near enough parking, so it's always grocery stores and stuff renting out parking for the show. Tyler loves Never-land Survives almost as much as I do, so we are both super hyped up on adrenaline and our ritualistic shared Monster energy drink that we share before every show we attend together. We skipped most of the way there, arms linked, passing the Monster back and forth in between skips.

When we slowed down, we ended up walking to these two guys, and Tyler tripped on his shoelace. I guess it had become undone while we were skipping. The guys stopped to help Tyler back up "Whoa dude, you okay?" The first one said as he grabbed Tyler's hand and pulled him back to his feet.

"Yeah, I'm cool. Thanks man. Appreciate it." He bends down and begins to re-tie his shoe.

"You guys going to Nevermore Survival?" Asked the stranger

"Um, YES!" I step forward and pitch in "We are fucking pumped. I never thought they'd make it up here."

"Billie." He says as he holds his hand out

"Emma" I say as I take his hand in mine and shake it

"Glad to meet you." He gestures behind him at his friend "That's Xavier, he's a bit quiet at first." His hand lifted to smooth his hair over as the drape of brown was covering half of his face. His eyes were blue and surrounded by dark makeup, his nose long and straight. He bore tattoos, visible on his neck, but I assume there are more. His lip pierced twice on one side, and gauged ears. The zippers on his leather jacket jingled as he moved. Xavier was lingering behind a bit, I think he must be shy. I can't get a good look at him, but I keep seeing Tyler look back in his direction.

"Love the blue." I giggle "matches your eyes" and I'm immediately horrified at myself. I don't flirt! What the hell was that? He probably thinks I'm some cheap slank now. Who the hell even does that?

"Thanks!" He smiles, and his whole face lights up "I honestly don't know how I feel about it."

"It's good. I vote you keep it. Seal of approval granted." I pulled on my finger-less glove and glanced down at my shoes. A wave of anxiety swept over me and I wasn't sure what else to say really. I have that problem a lot, sometimes I just spit something out. Or I just sat nothing at all.

We start walking again, now merged into a group.

"So how long have you been listening to Neverland Survival?"

"Pretty much forever. I found them after their second EP, Radient Exhibition. My favorite song is off that album actually."

"No way! Which song?"

"Moving on to Paradise"

"Dude, you are officially my best friend! That's legit my favorite song of all time!"

"Yep. We gotta get matching tattoo's now" I reply while simultaneously noticing that my anxiety is completely gone now. That's strange. My anxiety never goes away that easily. Usually not until I'm alone again and able to actually cope with it. Something about Billie just makes me feel... comfortable.

When we finally reach the line, we all pile onto the end of it. "You wanna chill with us after?" Billie looks at me hopefully.

I look over at Tyler "I have to actually head home, but we can all meet up after and you can grab your stuff if you want, Emma." Tyler is giving me a look. One that is telling me to go. That this guy is hot and I need to get ON an opportunity like that when it walks right into my hands. I have a tendency of being super intimidated by people I don't know. I always kind of get shy and never just go for it. But right now, I want to go for it.

"Sure, that would be cool." I blurt out before I can even think about it. Tyler gives me a look of approval.

"Cool." He looks at me and smiles. I think I also saw a slight reddening appear on his face.
