Andi's POV
I wrapped my red bandana around my head, tying it into a bow at the front, and rushed out the door with the words, "Bye, Mom! Bye, Dad!" and headed off to the Spoon to hang out with my friends.
When I got there, I bumped into Jonah at the door.
"I'm so sorry."
"Sorry. Oh, hi, Andiman."
"Hi."
We were supposed to be dating, but we hadn't told Buffy, Cyrus, and the rest of our friends yet, just in case it didn't work out... again.
He opened the door for me, then I thanked him as I stepped into the diner, where Buffy and Cyrus were waiting in a booth. We all exchanged 'hellos', and me and Jonah sat down next to each other, smiling. For some reason, Buffy and Cyrus were doing the same. Amber, TJ, and Marty were late, but that somehow didn't ruin our moods.
"Why are you guys smiling like that?"
Cyrus sighed, unable to hold whatever it was in, and gushed, "TJ and I are dating!"
"Really?"
"That's great!"
"Congrats!"
"Yeah," Cyrus grinned. "thanks. He texted me last night -- or, well, actually, at two fifteen this morning -- to tell me that I could tell you guys. And he sent me the most wholesome meme ever, but that's beside the point."
We all laughed.
"Okay, my turn," Buffy piped up. "I'm dating somebody, too."
"Who?"
"Marty... from the Party," she stated proudly. "He's been sending me what he calls 'dank memes' every five minutes since he woke up an hour ago."
A phone chimed.
Buffy got out hers, then showed us the screen. "Told you."
When the conversation finally turned to why we were smiling, I had to seek out and think up an excuse, but Jonah replied right away.
"I talked to Walker at the party yesterday."
He what?
"Oh, no," Buffy's face fell, "did the conversation end well? He's a bit of a jerk, isn't he?"
"Buffy, if the conversation didn't end well, I don't think he'd be smiling like that," Cyrus reminded. "So, Jonah, what happened?"
"Oh. Well, I gave him my number and my email. It's no big deal."
His number and his email?
"Uh-huh, no big deal," Buffy glanced at him in disbelief.
"Yeah, no big deal," Jonah reiterated, a confused expression on his face.
Yeah, Andi, it's no big deal.
"What about you, Andi?"
"Um... well..."
I was stuck. I didn't have anything to throw over my friends' fire of curiosity, not this time.
Then I had an idea.
"Uh... Amber invited me over to her house," I said, sounding so much more confident than I really felt.
"Oh... well, that's cool."
Suddenly, Amber and TJ walked through the door of the Spoon, grabbed chairs, and headed over to us.
