Roadside roses

We're packed and about to enter the car when we see the whole neighborhood coming out to say goodbye,things get pretty emotional as we're going to miss our extended family, this goes on for several minutes with mum nearly bursting to tears. Rapha and I get called privately by Aunt Linda,
"You know you girls are going away now, maybe for good, maybe not, to a boring neighborhood or community where pretty much nothing happens, so I'm giving you these gemstones as well as an old neighborhood photograph to remember us by"
"No need Auntie, we're pretty much already packed" says Rapha
"And we can't possibly take these from you, it must cost a lot" I reply
"No, no, children,you must, your father gave them to me a long time ago, I just feel obligated to give you, as your his darling twins"
" Okay Auntie,but we'll have to tell our mum" I reply
"Of course,of course, you may do, whatever you want to with them, except lose it..."
"Never", we both say.
We couldn't lose whatever piece of our father that remained
"Now be good", she says as she sees Elsa and Derrick coming.
Our besties, our personal gang of crazy friends, was approaching, tears fill my eyes, and I wonder if i would find anyone like them again
" So you scallywags decided to escape the hardships of Hardins college without us, just around the time we get into high school" , Derrick says looking uninterested.
He does this because of my sister, ever since she said she loves bad boys the poor boy has been snubby,tho he's so attracted to her, Rapha doesn't care or notice.
"Yeah, just about when we were going to get some boys in our bedrooms" says Elsa
"Elsa!" Says Rapha,
" Come on, you know it's true" I'm gonna miss this, I'm gonna miss us"
"Oh well that makes all of us, Elsie" says Rapha
We hug and say our goodbyes.
We get on our six hour trip with none of us calling shotgun, which is weird cause we're always fighting for that window sit,by the way Rapha pecked Derrick, which left him dumb for some minutes.

I'm listening to some lofi songs on my headphones, when the car stops, it seems mother wants to buy some gas. I head out to get some snacks at the store, I'm picking through my favorite snacks when I sea some rose out the window, I pick some, pay to the cashier.
While he's looking for some change, when I ask, "Who planted those? They are so beautiful.
He resurfaces from behind the counter and says," the locals say it's a Ravens blood that gave birth to those and can't ever die, but its all hubbub, I'm sure someone comes at night to take care of them, you can pick one if you want"
"Hmm, I suppose so"
I go get one but get pricked by it's thorns
" Oh well if you want a bed of roses you got to put up with it's thorns" I murmur
I suck my thumb and walk back to the car where mum and Rapha are checking out the gemstones.
" They reflect the light perfectly, right??"
"Yh, mum, they're so beautiful, we should make them necklaces or bracelets"
"That sound great,what do you think? Gabrielle"
"Sounds great mum" I reply and go get some snacks.
We're back on the road
I'm humming to a tune in my head when the weirdest thing happens, 7 Ravens appear out of nowhere.
"That's odd"
"Yh, where did they come from? They aren't native to these parts, maybe just an occurrence?? I'm taking a picture" says Rapha, as she leans out the window to take a picture on her phone.
"Be careful back there, we don't want you falling out the car" says mum, who's also watching this unnatural occurrence.
We finally reach the hometown of my mother, Aloeseve, weird name but not unusual in these parts.
People stare and whisper as we pass by, some wave, it's different I'd say, though I'm used to being waved at, during trials, or when passing by a crowd of teenage lovers, trust me its a bit annoying.
Watching these guys wave is just creepy,
"Uhm, mum, what's going on?, Why the creepy waving" asks Rapha
" Oh it's nothing, just an act of welcoming visitors"
"You know if it were in the day it would have been a little less creepy"
We continue driving in until we reach a street named Treetops, we reach one elegant, and royal looking mansion.
"We're here girls, start offloading",
I look at Rapha and scream, while she's hollering and hooting, we get down and start offloading.
"Guys I'm going to see the whole house, this cannot be real"
"Come back here, oh she's gone, Gabrielle, take your stuff in, I'm right behind you, she says with a sigh"
I open the door and walk in, mum's forgotten something at the back and since it's a bit dark it's going to be hard to find whatever she looking for.
